I would imagine it's far simpler, Wart.

I would imagine a woman whom that coach loves -- maybe his wife -- saw what he was doing with the pink jerseys and asked him to cut it out.

If a woman I loved told me to cut it out, I would.

I think you would, too.

In your opinion. Obviously Coach Nutt felt otherwise. Your beef shouldn't be with liberal, tree-hugging, PC do gooders. Your beef should be with Coach Nutt who didn't follow a logical thought process in making the decision.

So the breast cancer survivors who are offended by this practice tactic need to get over it and realize it has nothing to do with them.
You are assuming quite a bit, if your only source of information is the blurb on ESPN linked above. At no place in the article does it say:

"Cancer survivors who were offended asked coach Nutt to stop the practice punishment of pink jerseys."

It says that "Nutt received negative reaction from people when they saw the players in the pink jerseys. Breast cancer survivors and their supporters often wear pink ribbons, and the nationwide Race for the Cure, which raises funds for breast cancer research, uses the color pink as well."

He received negative criticism- from his office adminstrative staff? From the undergraduate student government? From a psychology professor? From a an assistant dean? You are making the assumption that cancer survivors or Breast Cancer Association peolple protested his actions.

Again, you should be miffed and ridiculing Nutt for making the ridiculous connection and are 100% correct that, in fact, the pink jerseys and cancer have nothing to do with one another.

Schade,

Just pointing out things about the PC crowd and the screwed up judicial system that have allowed this to happen.
Bill Clinton? He and his cronies were the ones that started the whole PC stuff on a national level. Ever hear the words "Politically Correct" before the Clintonites came to be? I don't recall ever hearing those words before Clinton.

At any rate, I don't care what anyone wears. And I certainly don't care for the GOP, either.

ANd the Libertarian speaks his peace. . . . or is it piece?

It's funny the things added to our vernacular from different factions.

Clinton-era gave us PC

Reagan- gave us trickle down economics

Newty gave us family values

Funny how ideas and ideals can be framed as Geedubya has given us Tax Relief- implying that we are some how stricken ill and need to be saved by doing something as patriotic as paying taxes. . .

All true, DD. Still doesn't change the fact that the PC stuff went full blown during the Clinton/Gore years. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be going away and only getting worse.

Yes spring time when a 4 becomes a 7, and a 7 becomes a 10. What a difference a little less clothing makes

You got the time period correct, Freak. But the whole PC issue arose from the increasingly litigious American society. Beginning in the '80s, people started filing suits for perceived slights of all kinds. Public Officials, always wanting to stay above controversy(and wanting to avoid defending lawsuits), found it easier to change the way they referred to things/people. PC was born. It's easy to blame on Clinton/Gore, but the seeds were sown before that.

Don't forget, that in the old-days, a lot of what is called PC today, was called "Manners."

Seems as though Houston Nutt used the pink jersey as punishment to players. But now will stop doing that because it might offend breast cancer survivors. Before I start on my rant, let me first state that my Mom is a breast cancer survivor so I am well aware of that issue. That being said, what the hell does the color of a football jersey have to do with offending someone? Why does everything have to be tied up and related to some cause. Given my ugly mug, soft body, and balding head, am I offending breast cancer survivors if I wear a pink shirt? Maybe we should all go back to Adam and Eve and walk around nekkid. That way I won't have to worry that my actions might somehow be offending some group because I am wearing a particular color shirt that day. This politcal correctness crap has gone way too far.
So will Jesper Parnivik be there to support the pink shirt? Gotta be a golf fan to understand it-and by the way it takes a real man to wear pink. :D

Good points DD. Maybe I wasn't clear, but I am miffed at whoever issued the negative criticism. Whoever they are, they are missing the point completely. And I am a little miffed at Nutt for not having the nuts to stand up and say that this has nothing to do with breast cancer and no one should be offended by one of his players wearing a pink jersey except for the player himself since he was being lazy in practice.
