It seems to me that people are using them to make political/social statements rather then rasing awareness about an issue. Just my thoughts.
For what it's worth, I wear a "LIVESTRONG" band in memory of my wife, who died of cancer 11 yrs. ago.... my daughter and I first discovered the bands when we went to visit my son in Colo. late last summer... Colo. folks are "health nuts" as a group, and we were surprised to see how many people WERE wearing the yellow bands. Do I think I'm "better than others" because of this? I don't think so.... as to other organizations "copying" the idea, think of how many mailing labels you get from organizations seeking your donations to their cause(s). Seems to me it started with one or two groups....now, I must have about 5,000 labels in my possession, not counting the ones I've thrown away. When one idea seems to work, many groups follow suit, (including MS drive at the BG hockey games last month). It's not all bad and I don't think people
