Marshall boosters flew in potential players from all over the country and held tryout so they could compete for the 15 or 20 scholarships the Herd would be offering that year. The more recent business -- about players working $25 an hour janitorial jobs for a booster who allowed coaches to hand out the paychecks at the football office -- pales by comparison.
