Not having a home game until October is a double edged sword. On the one hand, if the Falcons win two of, or all three games in October, the hype building for the Temple game will be staggering. If the marketing and ticket people can’t fill the stadium for both Temple and Ohio there will be serious questions depending on how they played and what kind of weather BG gets.

I like getting Ohio early but still a few weeks into the season. I’m not sure what their new coach will produce down there, but I’d rather the Falcons face it early before he has an entire season to work with it.

Much the same thing is true of the WMU game.

If the season has gone well, I’m looking forward to the bliss of the last contest in November. I want fly-overs, fireworks, ESPN Gameday, or at least a ESPN Gameday-like feel to the day.

Students are on break in October :?: Why is that? Am I missing something?
it has to do with freshmen. it was instituted because some study showed that around mid october, freshmen start to become homesick and overwhelmed with college. a lot of schools are introducing a break in october so freshmen can cope better with college.
Is it called "Candyasses run home to Mama" on the fall schedule? If not, it probably should...
Today's college students are a bunch of pussies. Well, when I went to BG, we had two feet of snow by Labor Day and were forced to attend class in shorts. Heck, when the temperature dropped below 30, they moved class time up and hour and didn't tell you so when you showed up, class was letting out, so you got out of bed and walked in the cold for nothing. Plus, we had to go to class on Saturdays. The library only had two books and there was a five year waiting list to check them out. And the girls didn't shave their legs or arm pits which made it tough when you only had one bar in town to drink at. And to make matters worse, football was only I-AA at the time! Yeah, today's students with their fall breaks and Division I football are a bunch of pussies.

I know there is a lot of consternation over the fact we do not have a home game until October. But lets look at the bright side of this issue. We play four out of five games at home on October. The weather in October should be great for football. This also should help us get on a pretty good roll before playing Miami.

Also, we only have one home game in November when the weather can turn really ugly. But that one game in Toledo, which is a virtual sellout no matter what the weather. So from an attendance standpoint, I think the schedule sets up pretty well, except for that Fall Break thing, which I hope is getting blown out of proportion. We could have gotten three home in November, instead of so many in October. All in all, given the TV exposure and the order of the MAC games (we should be 6-0 heading into the Miami/Toledo section of the schedule), it is not that bad. IMO :)

Sorry. I'm not going to do that. :)

It's a blessing to be back in Ohio. I plan to see every home game and make the trip to Wisconsin, Those are my goals this year.

I may work in a road trip to Miami if I feel up to it. That should be a big game, and it isn't too far.

You forgot the wolves, BGorDeath, you forgot the wolves. Even if you could find a decent parking space, the lot was home to a large and aggressive pack of wolves.

I later found out that they were just ugly sorority girls, but it was scary nonetheless.

(excellent avatar, BTW...I liked that album although some people thought it continued a downward trend started by "End of the Century")

Yeah, and the wolves/sorority girls in the parking lot. We didn't have any shuttle service. We had to go to the dollar store, buy a plunger, take off the rubber part and drive a nail in the end to beat back the wolves/sorority girls while trying to return to campus. And the student medical center didn't have any tetnus OR pennicillun if you got bit.

(Flipper, Pleasant Dreams is by far my favorite Ramones offering. Can't beat 7-11 for a the most tragic song of all time.)

Its probably a good thing that the medical center didn't have Tetnus Toxin.
Though I think I did get the Tetnus Vaccine when I was there.
