The real reason for the "exodus..." Waffles!!

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Please, if you're offended by, or don't get sarcasm... just don't read this one by TG1996.

When they showed Monty Pyhthon on MTV years ago they would preface it with the following statement: "Monty Python's Flying Circus has been found to be an effective tool in the offending of the easily offended, so if you're one of them, do us both a favor and DON'T WATCH!! Thank you and God bless."

Personally, I find it to be hillarious...

Paul Brown did this, too, with both the Browns and Bungles.

Properly it's the Clowns and the Bengals.

No, I think he meant Browns and Bugles. You know, those little cone shaped snacks! Those are good!

See that BIG hole on the right side of the line? Yeah, the guy in the white jersey ran through there and then 70-some more yards out of his 186 that day. :D

I like it better too, except for that idiot with the number 2 on his jersey.

I can't figure out what the Browns did to him other than make him a Brown, because he was outstanding when he was here.

Couch was beat into crappiness. Look at his Rookie season. It was one of the best rookie season a QB had had in a long time. I think he was the first rookie with a positive TD:INT ratio in some 20 years. He showed the ability to put the ball where it needed to be, he showed great athleticism (had an 80 yard run or so that season), and he just looked like he was destined for greatness.

Then the sacks came. He got injured. He got happy feet. He started throwing off his back foot. He held onto the ball too long. In short, his mechanics went straight to hell.

Then came the fans & media. Cleveland is tough. Like Philly tough. When the wins weren't coming people didn't take the time to realize that he might not have been the whole problem. They booed him. If Couch had a fault it was that he was a little too sensitive. He couldn't shrug it off. When he first came to C-town he was the hard working guy every fan identified with, and he was hailed as the savior. Unfortunately he went through some rough times on & off the field. People were convinced that he was the problem, not noticing that he was getting flat out murdered out there.

Finally, came Kelly Holcomb. Holcomb, IMO, was always awful. He had a weaker arm than Couch, and made a million dumber throws. Even still when his balls weren't getting picked off he put up huge TD & Yardage numbers, despite a still piss poor QB Rating. Fans latched onto him, because he had great numbers in those categories (nevermind that he threw INTs in the end of every close game he's ever competed in). So then Butch Davis, in his infinite wisdom, opened the QB position up for competition. Unfortunately those yeas of beatings caused him chronic arm troubles. Holcomb won the battle and floundered. In comes Couch when Kelly gets hurt like a knight in shining armor to have his best game in years. Suddenly its a controversy again.

Unfortunately he could never stay healthy and Davis brought in Garcia. Couch was done and his body was torn to shreds. I still feel sorry for the guy. I still think Tim Couch would've become a pretty good QB for a lot of teams, but Cleveland was not the right fit. He was thrown to the wolves, and got beat up both physically & mentally. Then once he had been beaten to submission the fans & media derided him until he finally showed no fire or drive to continue.

So yes, I would say that simply becoming a Brown was the beginning of the end for Timmuh. :(
