Vandermeer left because...

Post by BGorDeath »

According to my highly reliable source, his dad was tired of driving to BG for games. Vandermeer is reportedly heading to UIC. It's a shorter drive for his dad and doesn't stretch the umbillical cord as much.

Wow!

Post by Falconboy »

Thats....Wow! I guess that means no NBA for Scotty cuz if he's good enough by his senior year and lets say basicly any team besides the Pacers draft him , then Vandameer's dad won't go anywhere far to see his son play. Again I say Wow! What can you say. There are as many reason for the players leaving as there are players that have left! :|

Please God, no more transfers. :prayer:

This is an incredibly WEAK reason to leave a program. It's hard to take it at face value. If this actually is the reason, then, well "...don't let the door hit you on your a$$ on your way out." Didn't Scott value his original decision? Didn't he form friendships, associations, and goals while he was here?

As I alluded to in an earlier post, this would fall in line with what I heard 3-4 weeks ago about Scott possibly leaving.

Very few players around here have valued their original decision.

You know, I hear what you're saying. But didn't you ever do something you regretted when you were 19?

Let's hope this guy from Yugoslavia's dad doesn't want to come to the games

Yeah, I did somethings I regretted when I was 19, but laying an egg on a Division I basketball program with a multi-million budget wasn't one of them. We all have regrets from that age, but you have to put it in perspective.

As for the Slav's dad, I just hope he doesn't drive a Yugo. He may never make it to the game~ :D

Per an ealier discussion, Yugoslavia no longer exists. It is Serbia and Montenegro now. [/b]

No offense at all, but that sounds like a load of crap...why would he leave such a great program to go to UIC??

Not sure if that's sarcasm or not, golfer, but a player at UIC for the last four years has made two trips to the Big Dance.

To leave a program for the reason stated, especially after receiving decent floor time, shows a basic lack of respect for our program (& coaches & teammates) on part of SV and his old man. I don't know how that kid could look DD in the face when requesting his release for that reason. It seems that he takes these decisions too lightly, and it would make me question his commitment at his next program.
