Since the spring game is behind us I took the liberty to look at how good the Badgers are in CR.
2004
W Central Florida 34-6
W UNLV 18-3
W Penn St. 16-3
W Illinois 24-7
W Northwestern 24-12
W Minnesota 38-14
They did not lose at home last season but quite honestly this is a really easy home schedule for the Big Ten. I do notice that not many points were scored on them at home.
2003
W Akron 48-31, (the way I remember this game was much closer than the final score indicated)
L UNLV 23-5
W UNC 38-27
W OSU 17-10
L Purdue 26-23
W Michigan St 56-21
L Iowa 27-21
2002
W Fresno St. 23-21
W West Virginia 34-17
W Northern Illinois 24-21
W Arizona 31-10
L Penn St 34-31
L Ohio St. 19-14
L Iliinois 37-20
W Minnesota 49-31 (must be nice to have 8 home games in a season)
2001
W Virginia 26-17
L Fresno St 32-20
W Western Kentucky 24-6
L Indiana 63-32 (WTF?)
L Michigan St. 42-28
W Iowa 34-28
L Michigan 20-17
First just looking at NonBCS schools. Akron gave them trouble in 03, UNLV shut them down the same year, they squeaked by NIU and Fresno in 02, lost to Fresno in 01 and only beat WKU (1-AA) 24-6.
They did not lose a game at home last season but like I said their home schedule was quite easy last season.
For Camp Randal getting so much attention, their record really does not show it. 3 Losses in 2003, 3 losses in 2002, and 4 losses in 2001. Granted they are playing much better schools than we are, but we have only lost one game at home since October 2001 and it technically was not even a home game. Their record at home since 2001 is 18-10.
They were pretty impressive at home last season but every indication is that they are going to be worse in 05r and we are going to be better. Keep in mind they also tanked at the end of last year dropping their last three.
I think all of this is correct and I apologize if I made an error somewhere. My main point here is they are very beatable at home. With the team we have next season there is no reason we should not win and I don't care if that sounds cocky. Refuse to lose in 05 baby.

Kdog,
Good stuff, man. That Akron game? Wisky led 34-31 and the Zips were on the Wisky 1 yard line. Akron ran TWICE up the middle and was EASILY in the end zone but never got the call. On 3rd down, Frye throws and INT and it gets returned 99 yrds for a TD. Wisky tacked on a late TD to make the final 48-34. Lee Owens was so pissed after the game and rightfully so. NIU got homered as well losing 24-21 in 2002.
BG needs to beat UW straight up. Like columbus, Ann Arbor and other Big 10 houses, you're gonna get homered.

I am pretty damn sure Akron got an official letter of apology from the B10 for not calling a TD there. Lot of good that did them though after the fact....its damn near impossible to get back on your feat after a bogus 14-point swing. Of course we can't say they would have won that game, but it sure would have been a hell of a lot closer without that lameness.Falconfreak90 wrote:Kdog,

The worst part is that you are getting homered by your OWN refs. In college ball it is generally the away team's conference that provides the refs. I'm 99% sure that we had MAC officials for the OSU game in '03 (when we got a terrible call against us on that fumble).kdog27 wrote:Yeah you can pretty much plan on that happening, but I think we will be good enought to overcome it. Good to see ya yesterday, I am really looking forward to the Fall.Falconfreak90 wrote: BG needs to beat UW straight up. Like columbus, Ann Arbor and other Big 10 houses, you're gonna get homered.
I don't know why it is, but they get caught up in the moment or something and they almost always make at least one key call in favor of the BCS home team.

I believe hammb is correct on this one. At least that is how most conferences handle it. When an ACC-SEC game is played, the visiting teams conference supplies the refs. Maybe some schools make stipulations in the contracts we sign with them.
