This is an incredibly WEAK reason to leave a program. It's hard to take it at face value. If this actually is the reason, then, well "...don't let the door hit you on your a$$ on your way out." Didn't Scott value his original decision? Didn't he form friendships, associations, and goals while he was here?
Very few players around here have valued their original decision.
To leave a program for the reason stated, especially after receiving decent floor time, shows a basic lack of respect for our program (& coaches & teammates) on part of SV and his old man. I don't know how that kid could look DD in the face when requesting his release for that reason. It seems that he takes these decisions too lightly, and it would make me question his commitment at his next program.
Steve's or his dad's?

So we're making assumptions on hear-say and passing them off by calling the kid a (kittie-cat)? It's his decision, Dakich agreed to it, and they're going their opposite ways. I'm not real sure why this is still such a heated topic.

Because it's an incredibly lame reason to transfer and he screwed the team, coach and university over for what has been called an incredibly lame reason (see words earlier in sentence).

And if Vandy was the first player to leave this program or one of the few this would be a big deal. However, I'm sure we've all noticed that this is a problem at our school. Again, don't you think it's time to stop dragging someone through the mud for making a decision for his family?

I personally think that everyone who has left the program recently have had lame reasons, with the exception of Kris Wilson. I am just tired of today's younger set backing out of their commitments. It pisses me off as a season ticket holder, booster and alumni. If you transfer before completing your four year commitment (and don't give me that the scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis crap), you should repay the university for the education you received. The university was living up to their end of the deal, there should be some sort of repayment due on the athletes part if they are leaving. Oh, and if I were Loyola. Md., I be pissed about Reimold leaving, so I am not talking a one way street.

FWIW, Dakich was asked about the transfers on 1470 yesterday. His response was that this is how kids are these days. They grew up playing AAU ball and moving from team to team to try to move up. They get to high school and do the same thing, trying to get in a situation that helps them get to the next level. Kids are starting to see college the same way. Start one place, try to move around to help yourself, not the team. That was his take.

Also, along these lines, story in the Blade today about a sophomore from Libbey(?) who is transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia for his final two years of high school and he also gave a verbal commitment to attend Xavier after that.

Vandermeer played a full season for Bowling Green and won't be going here next year. He's not screwing the university out of any money.

Hell, Vandermeer tied the record for blocks in a game one game, and in the next he saw limited time. I'd be a little pissed off if I was him too.

If the reason he transferred was "lame" and he truelly was a "pu$$y" I have more faith in Dakich to give a tougher time granting the release. Why would Dakich say the agreement for Vandermeer to leave was mutual if it wasn't or if it was a lame reason? All the hear-say and speculation is just that.

Remember, a player did leave for "lame" and "stupid" reasons and Dakich did callthat player out on that very forum- 1470.

Time to move on.
