Attendance guess for SEMO game?

Post by BGSU33 »

I know it's not the biggest name opponent we could have, but I am hoping for at least 20,000. With the success we had last year, the strong showing at Oklahoma last week, the new videoboard, postgame fireworks and a good-looking weather forecast at this time, I hope we at least reach that figure since several MAC schools have already ranged from 17,000 - 21,000 for games against I-AA teams last week.

My guess is 18,500

I hope I'm wrong by a large margin

call me optimistic but i think we'll get 20,000+ easy

We've got a lot going for us (like bgsu33 was saying)
* fresh off our success from last year
* strong showing @ Oklahoma
* new video scoreboard
* sunny weather (around 75)
* later kickoff than normal @ 6pm
* everyone I know wants to see Omar in action
* PLUS black swamp festival this weekend in BG

I guess we'll just have to wait in see...

Well, it looks like "Fans will be out in full force on Saturday". That's good, right?

It's been a few years since I've been in town for the Black Swamp Festival, but I don't recall it creating that much extra traffic. Was I just not paying attention?

Well the black swamp festival is usually crowded then add on that there is a football game this week. With the Wooster construction it could get ugly.

Traffic will be worse even without the Black Swamp Festival, thanks in part to the never-ending road work being done on wooster :cry:

--word of advice to anyone driving to the game-- get there early! traffic has been horrible on wooster ever since I came back to BG a few weeks ago. I can't imagine how bad it will get when we have a 1000 extra cars trying to get into BG all at once. good luck!

My prediction for attendance? 16-17,000. They're doing everything they can to get people to this game - including a sweet pre-game rally with live music and giveaways, and I really hope it turns out otherwise.

Gotta defend the construction company on this one though. Yeah it's road construction, yeah it's a pain in the neck, yeah it seems like it's taking forever. But there was a recent release that said they're moving the projected completion date from August 2005 all the way back to December of this year. That's incredible. And the city thinks so, too -- they're offering significant incentives to Kokosing (something like $200,000 extra dollars) if the project is done by Thanksgiving. The company gets half that if the project is done by Memorial Day. I, for one, have been pretty impressed with the job the company has been doing so far.

Ice Arena

Post by Redwingtom »

To borrow logic from the old ice arena sellout days..."Tonight's estimated attendance...16 thousand 9!" Remember when each game would be a new record and would be exactly 3 more people than the last game? We ran a joke in Buelah's Bugle that the athletic department calculator only had two buttons...old record and +3.

forgot to mention.... i heard all BGSU staff/faculty are getting up to 4 free tickets to the game on saturday as well... that should help boost the attendence as well

ps... i take back my insulting remarks about the road construction on wooster. That is amazing that they will be done by December! mad props :lol:

I can't see us with any more than 15,000... I'll be excited if we get 15,000. Should there be more?? Absolutely!! Will there? Drawing upon past experiences...I say no way.
