When have you ever gone a day without eating?Falcon52 wrote:His punishment should be 10 Gasers; 10 - 110 yard sprints and 20 sprints up Bill's Hill in full gear. After that he will never drink again! After a spring game, it wouldn't take many beers to totally wreck someone. Hell, I know if I don't eat all day then go out drinking, I'm a mess.

The Falcon Club tent was not open. There were spectators that chose to sit in it, though.Redwingtom wrote:Any interesting thought I just had. Any possibilities to Ted getting a drink in the Falcon Club tent after the game? Did they even have alcohol there for the Spring game?
I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.

I'm jumping into this a little late, but I feel compelled to reply based on my experience as a "student leader."
I was Drum Major of the falcon marching band as many of you know. Fairly high level position. I was a teacher, mentor, friend, and pain in the @ss to Ohiogal.
Once I had that position I never consumed any alcohol and rarely went to parties. If I did go to parties I would have one maybe two social beers for the evening and that was it. The reason I didn't get fractured? Because if I ever got caught in a difficult position, not only would I have lost the respect of many of my fellow students, but of the directors, grad assistants, and staff of the FMB.
And the prospect of meeting with Chief and Jackson was a HUGE deterrent.
With all that said, I'm sure if I had gotten myself into this sort of spot, I would have still been the drum major. I would have paid my fine and done my time with the city. I would have had a serious talking to from Chief. I would have to apologize to the rank and file for bring down the name and tradition of the FMB (and I would have had to that on multiple levels from squad leaders down.)
Basically, we have an isolated incident at this point, friends. There's no pattern of behavior here (that we know of, at least.) If this were a pattern of behavior, I would say he should be suspended from games.
His punishment is going to be trying to get the trust of Brandon, Beckman, and the staff again. He's a captain and I'm sure he's feeling the weight of his actions. And if anything, he learned one hell of a valuable lesson.
Above all, thank God he's okay and didn't pay an ultimate price for his over indulgence.

I agree completely. Why would you let someone whom is your friend or teammate get in trouble if he/she was this bad off, or more like it, why would you let them get this bad?factman wrote:I agree with Spart43........where were his teamates and why weren't they helping each other out.
Here is my punishment, and I'm a team guy so this will sound odd...
Piepkow should apologize to the team, but then Coach Brandon should punish the entire team. The entire team should run, and be reminded that they are a TEAM and that they need to keep each other out of trouble. As a college student, I enjoy drinking as well. If I ever got that bad, my friends would be sure to make sure I got home alright, and I'd do the same for them.

Or we could all just mind our business and trust that the coaching staff will handle this properly, since they know Teddy better than any of us probably ever will.
Is this a big deal? Sure it is, but the world isn't going to fall apart for anyone, including Teddy, because of this one mistake. He and the team will get past it. If it were an ongoing thing like the situation last year, then there might be more reason for concern. There were alot of details about that situation that will, and should, never come out in the public. That one was alot more serious and deserved the attention it was given.

Not on the old job application.BGDrew wrote:Wait, isn't a minor misdemeanor the same thing as like your third speeding ticket?
I knew a coach that had his team up and running at 5:30 AM - all except for the student that slept in and missed class the day before. Coach figured if he needed his sleep, he could get it while his teammates were up and running. That was the only time that year a comment was made about going to class.duckunder53 wrote:Piepkow should apologize to the team, but then Coach Brandon should punish the entire team.
