josh harris done in cleveland?
the browns just drafted charlie frye in the second round.....does this signal the end of Josh's time in cleveland? I don't think the cleveland brass will choose J5 over Luke "no-talent" McCown. Only time will tell.....As much as I hate, and I do mean hate the browns, they have a good draft going so far. Frye to Edwards could be a good duo for a long time.

Yeah but who was blocking for McCown? I have a hard time believing since they drafted McCown over Harris, they would keep Harris. Josh's only hope to stay with the Browns now is to spend the year as the 4th QB on the practice squad, if the Browns even keep 4 QB's. He will likely just have to hook on somewhere else.

harris and mcclown will fight it out for the 3rd QB. the browns drafting luke last season is irrelevant. that was a different front office with different philosophies. and now the front office who drafted J5, baltimore, is in cleveland.
i think josh has the leg up on luke right now.
either way, cleveland has a great connection for a long time now. FRYE'S GOT A MAN.... HE THROWS IT TO EDWARDS DOWN THE SIDELINES...... TOUCHDOWN CLEVELAND!!!!! get used to it...

Exactly the point I was going to make for McCown. While he might have looked pretty crappy in his time at QB last year, he was playing beind a tennis net of an offensive line.NY-BG-FAN wrote:Yeah but who was blocking for McCown? However, when you say "they drafted McCown over Harris", you're right. THEY did. But the folks in charge now weren't around this time last year, and the current boss is the one that drafted Harris. While I'd say McCown might have an edge at #2/#3 because of his style, I think the thought of Savage drafting Harris carries equal weight. It will be a battle for that spot in training camp, for sure, but I wouldn't put Josh on the practice squad just yet.

i don't thnk harris was ever going to be the starter... but this is a two QB league. unless you have brett favre or peyton manning, you need two QBs in the NFL. a frye/harris combo will be very good in cleveland for years to come. the real question is, who get number 5?Tricky_Falcon wrote:not exactly a good sign for J5. He will really really have to bust his butt this summer to show that picking Frye wasn't the right decision. But doesn't look very good.

I think its just a matter of Josh continuing to bust his tail in the offseason. If he comes to camp a step ahead and ready to go, the opportunities should come. An early injury to Dilfer before the coaching staff feels comfortable putting the team on Frye's shoulders could lead to the window a player like Josh may need. Maybe it wouldn't turn out to be a long future with the Browns, but any opportunity to shine in a game will be noticed by every team in the league.AJatBG wrote:Right now on ESPN.com under the "draftcast"..
they are asking "Which young QB should the Browns groom into the starter?"
Josh is beating Luke, but Frye is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead[/url]

I think the Charlie pick almost guarantees that Josh will never get a chance to start in Cleveland. However, as somebody else said you need two QBs, and I can think of no combo I'd rather have than 2 MAC guys
As for the McCown thing, he's history, IMO. Phil has gone on record saying that Harris was actually in his top 100 players last year, and was shocked to pick him where they did. I can almost guarantee that a ranking like that means that he evaluated him higher than McCown.
This current FO (the one that actually knows football) has no ties to Luke McCown. At the very worst J5 will have a shot to compete for the #3 spot.
As it is, I LOVE Charlie Frye, but you all know that already

Um, I can't say as I've researched that much. But give it some time and I'm sure Tami can help hook ya up.hammb wrote:Is he single? So long as I don't have to sign a pre-nup, I'll marry him...get a divorce and take half his signing bonus
Pretty impressive first day for the Brownies, though, I'd say. Get some o-line fatties and maybe some more defensive help on Day 2, and I'd call it a success.

Would the Browns trade one of their QB's today?
If they do, wouldn't you think Luke would bring more value?
I'm not a draft expert, but I just thought I would throw those questions out there for you folks to chew on.
