McCown to the Bucs, Harris 3rd QB
Josh will have to battle a CFa but it looks good now.
By the wya the browns drafted a Fs after they signed Bryan Russell. Ha. Browns of Old.

Bryan Russell sucks. The Browns signed him because they needed a Safety. They picked the best guy available when picking Poole. Great Pick.Germainfitch1 wrote:Josh will have to battle a CFa but it looks good now.

They signed Russel for like 500k to be a BACKUP. They went out and got a safety who was the best in the draft in Poole.
Good drafting teams draft for best player, not need. The problem for the Browns in recent years has been drafting needs, and forsaking best player available. You take BPA no matter what the case is in the draft. You sure as heck don't overlook that policy because you signed a bargain basement backup in FA.

Damn the Browns. They need defensive secondary help, and they run out and pick up two guys who couldn't even pick off a SOPHOMORE in his first career start!!!
Seriously, I'm not sure about the late picks, the last two or three seemed to have the "might work his way into a backup role as an UDFA" line somewhere in their file. Hopefully at least one of them is a gem. Other than that, the first four rounds get an "A" from me!

Best I can find on the final 3-4 picks is that they are all high motor intense football players. They have all had some success in the collegiate level, and project well. The OT they took in the 7th is absolutely HUGE. The DE from kansas put up good numbers and projects to OLB in a 3-4. The LB from NM was a 3+ year starter and is a smart, and stout run stuffer.
None of them are the big-name guys who drop, but they are the no names that may become names. Generally the teams that get the great late round grades are the ones who take guys like Munoz or Jason White when they've dropped. Generally those guys dropped for a reason, the real wnners of the late rounds are the teams that take guys nobody's heard of and they end up being stars. Oftentimes their productive college players who didn't have super workout numbers (Zach Thomas, Tom Brady, etc). From what info I can find it appears our picks have potential to be that sort of player.

Great news for Josh and the Browns! Where is Terry Bradshaw and his piehole now? He made that comment on the NFL show about Josh being from "Bowling Green" and yet the QB that gets traded is from his alma mater, La Tech.
Josh and Charlie should have a great battle for the #2 and #3 spots...both from the MAC!
Get after 'em, Josh!

I hope you're right on about 'em, and with what Savage has shown in years past, I believe that they're good picks, it just shocked me a bit to see some of what was written up about them. According to Savage (and taking this with a grain of salt knowing that a GM could draft you, me, and my refrigerator and call it a "successful draft"), they went into day 1 with a list of 20 players, and didn't have to leave that list. They went into day 2 with a list of 25 players, and didn't leave that list either. They got the guys they wanted, now lets see how right they were.hammb wrote: TG:

One of my good buddies from undergrad is a Kansan and avid Jayhawk sports fan. He was at grad school and hosted me and my dad quite graciously a couple years ago when we pasted 'em in Lawrence.
Being a Chiefs fan he was hoping that KC took the Kansas guy and said this about him to me:
"A 40-yard dash clocked at 4.58 seconds at the combine in Indianapolis
assured NFL scouts that McMillan had linebacker speed. After his
strong showing, it almost was a given that he'd be drafted somewhere
-- it was just a matter of where.
McMillan "only" wieghs about 260, so he probably won't be any
help...just kidding, a guy that fast will help."
Pretty good draft, we'll see if we can get some love from Romeo and the team.

all bowling green
Um, how is it a bad thing for Bradshaw to say Harris is from BG? Ya lost me on that one.Falconfreak90 wrote: Great news for Josh and the Browns! Where is Terry Bradshaw and his piehole now? And I'm still one of the non-believers that Harris will have any NFL impact.
I think it was the way he said it. I don't remember the exact comment, but it was something like "the Browns signed Josh Harris from the Ravens this week..."Sussman wrote: Um, how is it a bad thing for Bradshaw to say Harris is from BG? Ya lost me on that one.
Bradshaw: "What a move THAT is. A quarterback from Bowling Green!?!?"
Or something like that.

I think I saw that airing of "Fox NFL Sunday." He said he might get a chance to play, and I do remember him laughing at something. I don't think it was about Harris, because the Fox NFL gang laughs at just about everything.TG1996 wrote:I think it was the way he said it. But when you think about it, Harris almost played in the NFL last year. He wouldn't have had a chance in hell to see action for any other team last year. After Garcia and Holcomb went down for the year, it was a miracle that McCown saw any action. Any further injuries would have been executed by the unwavering spirit of Gary Blackney.

Basically, that's what happened. It was the manner in which Bradshaw shouted "Bowling Green?????!?!?!?!". He stated it had gotten so bad in Cleveland that the Browns signed a QB from "BOWLING GREEN???!?!?!" and he was laughing his silly azz off.TG1996 wrote:I think it was the way he said it. I felt it was a slap in the face to BG and Josh. Like La Tech is a mecca for college football.

You guys aren't they only ones that dislike Bradshaw. For an essay entitled "Why I Hate Terry Bradshaw" click the following link. It's a kind of funny rant, that hits a few good points.1987alum wrote:Bradshaw = a**hat
