Wright to slide to 2G?

I was only able to catch a few BG games last year, so I haven't had a chance to see Wright play too much, but I was impressed with him at times running the point. With the departure of Lewis leaving a gaping hole at the two-guard spot, do any of you that have seen Wright play more than I have think he might have the ability to slide to the 2G spot for us this season? Athletically, I think he could make the move and he's got decent size for the spot, but I just wonder if his offense is up to par for the 2G role? He's one of the few guys who can create a shot if needed, but can he make it?

Playing the point last year, his looks on offense were limited, but he might be able to slide to that spot because we are now minus 17.0 ppg short there from last season. I am asking the question with the assumption that Floyd and Robinson could share and handle the PG spot effectively.

Dakich was rumored to have said the Robinson will start at the point. I think Wright is a more natural fit at the 2G than point and that he'll slide to that position nicely. He'll be better in a scoring role. He gets to his spot quickly and is a reasonable outside shooter. I'd expect him to average in double figures at the 2G.

We'll have 3 guys this year who'll be able to play PG: Wright, Robinson, and Floyd. I like having depth at that position.

I'd feel better with him move to the 2 spot. He has a little less to worry about. It seemed like last year he had trouble controlling the offense this will help the team.

I always thought of Wright as more of a scoring PG. They usually fit the 2 spot better so I won't be suprised to see him starting there at all.

The problem with Wright going to 2 is that you have a guy at 1 who signed to play at Oakland, and who i don't think was ever envisioned as a starting PG at BG, and a freshman who didn't have a scholarship offer three weeks before classes were starting. If you move Wright to 2, but don't have anyone at 1, then that could be a disaster--see last year's problems handling the press.

I agree all that looks bad but Floyd will be just fine in the backcourt. He had to sit out all of last year but he did practice with them so it's not like he just entered our playing style. If he is a true PG, even watching the games from the bench could have helped him last year. Those guys got the ability to see things going on that most people miss. My take on Robinson, or both actually, is that we should watch the first game before we start talking about positions. DD still knows how to coach and I think he will put the right people at the right spots.
