I'd love to see Omar around for a 3rd year, but seeing as how he hasn't even taken a snap in his 2nd, I don't think we can start to assume he'll be leaving after this year.

Omar would be wise to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and look to see where QB's are going to be drafted... who is coming out, and what role this might play... ie. Leinart and the rest of the senior QB's who might push Omar's draft stock down...
I am not saying he wont be drafted in the first round... rather the difference between top 5 and 25 is about 20 Million dollars.

Terna is a Nigerian power GOD!
RR might be leaving too.... that would be crap. ALL of Miami's GOOD players leave at once. We'd be screwed.
Did the Miami(OH) folks kick you out of the sandbox or something? Or are you just colorblind to the fact that orange and brown aren't quite the same as red and white?

If Sharon has a good year and puts on some muscle, he could be a first day pick.

A friend pointed out that there may be another reason for Omar to go in next year's draft - not only is he a great QB, but he is also a great student. Because he was redshirted his freshman year and he is on track to graduate in four year, there may be no reason for him to stick around for a fourth year (unless, of course, he feels he could be a top 5 pick in the 2007 draft). Personally, as long as he leaves BGSU with a degree, I'm happy. I hate seeing kids leave school early and forego their education. If he's got his degree I wish him NOTHING but the best of luck!
Also, I remember talking to his father in Mobile after the GMAC bowl and in an off-the-cuff comment I said something to the effect of "now we just have to try and talk him into staying for his senior season!" His father, who I have to say was otherwise a very, very cordial and funny man just kind of gave me an uncomfortable look. Take from that what you will, but I think he is also thinking along the same academic lines.
I do have to say that after the spring game this year, I really don't care what Omar does after this year. If he stays we have a phenomenal quarterback. If he does decide to go pro, we have ANOTHER phenomenal quarterback in Turner. God that kid blew me away. And believe me, that will be no Rothlesberger to Betts drop-off -- that will be continuity. Its gonna be awesome. 8)

I'm with Bleeding Orange, I'd like to see our guys graduate with degrees first, instead of going straight for the money. I mean why waste all the classtime you've spent over the last 3 years, when you have just 1 more year to go. Yes, I know thats a lot of money, but one more year can't hurt.

Has anyone discussed the importance of graduate school to Omar Jacobs?Bleeding Orange wrote:Because he was redshirted his freshman year and he is on track to graduate in four year, there may be no reason for him to stick around for a fourth year (unless, of course, he feels he could be a top 5 pick in the 2007 draft).

What......
Matt Leinart not the 1st pick in draft?? I hardly to see that. I don't think this means all that much, there still the '05/'06 season to play yet.
