Attendance guess for SEMO game?

Best bet for anyone coming out of town is to take 25 into town, east on Newton, south on N. College, East on Poe to Mercer and the Stadium.

Best bet for anyone coming from out-of-town is to charter a plane and parachute into the general vicinity of the stadium.

I think we can get close to 20K.

The opponent sucks. But we had a great year last year, we were on ABC last weekend (for all the students to see) and there are only two home games before November.

Also, the weather looks good.

I would hope for 20K on the nose.

This is question I have for city residents: Does the Black Swamp Arts Festival help or hurt football attendance? I'm thinking it hurts local attendance, but lures a few more people in from out of town. Maybe it ends up a wash... but I wonder.

i guess 20k or slightly moere. I have 5 friends comin up who haven't been to a bg game before. Mom and pops are coming as well. so we're already like .01% there!

it shouldnt hurt game attendance too much if at all. The festival will be over for the most part by game time. There are soem live music preformances in the evening usually, but the people that will be going to those probably wouldnt be going to the game anyway. (nothing against anyone that does, its good tunes, but this is Falcon football @ the Doyt.....c'mon...)

It may even help attendance because of the people that may decide to come into town for the day to the festival, and then go to the game at night. With multiple thigns happening in town, some out of town students may come home for the weekend (such as myself and I know of some more) which will draw more of a crawd. i think 20k should be easily obtainable.

I don't think the Arts Fest makes a significant difference. A large portion of the Arts Fest patrons are from out of town, which is, by the way, what it is for. Many people who are football fans will go to the festival during the day, then head to the game. Saturday night is special--its the main music act, and the really fun night, so that could cause some people to stay down there.

I can also see people sitting on a beautiful night, listening to the music, with all intentions of going to the game, and then not tearing themselves away.

Anyway, I don't think its a big issue.

Having said that, it would be a lot better if we didn't have home games on that night.

Having said that, why will 60,000 people travel to Bowling Green from somewhere else to hear music and look at art, but 10,000 won't travel from out of town to see a football game? Just a thought.

If coming from the North, you can actually avoid 25 if you want. Get off at the Rt. 582, Luckey exit and go right. If you take an immediate left on Mercer you can follow that down to Newton (2 stops signs, right past a church) and take a right. Then like orangeandbrown said, south on N. College, East on Poe to Mercer and the Stadium.

I have very low expectations for the attendance at this game. I think it will be about 10,000 to 12,000.

Would like to see more and will be pleasantly surprised if we get 20,000, but I just don't see it happening.

This is the best way. i've been using it for quite some time. You can even get on college from newton then, and hit poe. Then go right on to the stadium, or keep on college into campus.

Another thing in our favor, the OSU game is on at 3:30, so we're not right up against it. Sadly, that can be a factor.

Color me pessimistic. Anything over 12,000 is a bonus, IMO.

My heart says 20,000+ easily. My brain says it won't happen.

I'm going with my heart on this one. And if folks don't come out, I'm not gonna worry about what I cannot control. All I know is the 4 Freaks from Akron will be there.

wait, hammb is being pessimistic? never!!!

Though I think numbers in the 20K's is high, I would imagine at least 15,000 would be there, as was mentioned before, they played last week on national TV with the students in session, so its not like last year (or years past) where they play a 1-AA school before or right as classes get going. There has been "groundwork" laid for the season, and while that doesn't mean an exodus out to the Doyt on Saturday, I think it means a few more people than if it was the first game of the year. Of course, an evening start means more 6pm beer naps from the early TV games too, unfortunately.

Believe it or not, this was my first choice for a road trip this year. I wanted Noah to enjoy some nice weather AND a Falcon victory and this has the ingredients for both. Other scheduling conflicts are the ONLY reason we are coming out for the Western Michigan game instead.

If I had to bet a shiny nickel, I'd say we'll see between 14,000 and 16,000 in attendance. I think that's a shame, but that's what I expect.
