A good kid to look at for the 2006 class

Post by o44life »

If we want to upgrade our size in the next couple years, I think BG should take a look at Kurt Huelsman from St Henry, Ohio. St Henry plays in the same league that Corey Eyink's team did and Lefeld's team did.

Huelsman is rated #130 nationally per rivals. He averaged 12 points 8.7 rbs and 4 blocks a game this year. He sits at 6'9 215 and has the frame to put on some more pounds. People are recruiting his as a PF/C and could probably play either. He is getting looks from Purdue, Cincy, Duquesne, and lists BG as a preferred choice.

Kurt will definitely average more points this year as the leading scorer on the team is gone. St Henry's team was a balanced attack led by Huelsman, and 2 other guys who made over 40 3's this year. Now the Kurt is the Go to man i am sure he will definitely put up star numbers. He has been 6'7 since the seventh grade so he has definitely had time to get good footwork and coordination.

I think DD and Lamonta should take a good hard look at him

Forgot to Mention that his brother Kevin Huelsman is a lineman on the football team. And every single kid in his family has gone on to play sports in college so he comes from a good backround.

Then they should DEFINITELY take a look at him. Or at least make sure his folks don't mind the drive ALL the way to BG for games. :?

Being a former Minster native and one who had the pleasure of overlapping with Bobby and Tommy Hoying at St. Henry, I was fortunate enough to play high school football against them, but that's not important. What's interesting is that you did not point out their high school conference name. The Huelsman's, Hoying's and Eyink play/played in the M.A.C. (Midwest Athletic Conference), coincidence...I think NOT!

So is being a former Minster native similar to being a former B.G.S.U. alum?

getting just a TAD off topic here, but for more info on he high school MAC (yes, it IS the best small school conference in Ohio) check out www.themaconline.com Somebody usually has a post on the message board about college prospects and the latest updates/rumors are usually pretty accurate considering the people posting from these small communities more or less HAVE to know the athletes in question.
Also lots of good info on the conference itself, including a TON of state titles from schools like St. Henry, Coldwater, Delphos St. John's, Minster, New Bremen, Marion Local, and my personal alma mater - VERSAILLES.
If you wanna feel funky, feel free. Just please don't spread that funk on me!

Thanks for the link. I didn't know this site even existed. I enjoy catching up on the sporting scene back in Minster every once in awhile. Oh and not to pick on New Bremen, but I don't believe they have ever won a state title in any sport. Leave it to a Minster grad to pont this out.
