I wouldn't even call Trent Dilfer a bargain. Anything they pay him, the Browns are getting ripped off. Sure, he was the Ravens starter when they won it all, but that had nothing to do with anything he did. That was ALL defense that won that Super Bowl. Dilfer flat out sucks!!!
PS-This is meant to rip on Dilfer, not to argue with or offend anyone.

When I wrote that I was referring to the safety they signed, not Dilfer.
I'm not sure I 100% agree on your take on Dilfer either. I'd much rather have him than Kelly Holcomb, I can tell you that.

No QB would be taking the Browns anywhere in the near future.
What Trent is, is a great leader who is 100% willing to embrace his role as a mentor. He knows that he's not the guy we've chosen to take us to the promised land, but nobody could do that with this roster. Even still he's coming in and going to try and get us a win or two. His biggest asset is that he's comfortable being the mentor to both Josh & Charlie. He helped groom Hasselbeck in Seattle, and has experience in this regard.
I don't expect anything special from Trent on the field, but if Charlie or Josh end up becoming big time QBs, I think whatever we pay Dilfer will be worth every penny.
