What are Sharon's draft prospects?
I've been wondering about this since this year's draft, especially since I forsee him having a MONSTER year this year. He is an excellent receiver, probably with the most underrated hands in college football, but at the same time he is pretty tiny. I've always thought that he has Steven Wright-type leges -- they are so skinny that I don't know how they support his body weight sometimes. But, he has such great abilities that I think NFL teams might give him a long, serious look. Just curious to see what all of you football geniuses think (and I do realize that it is very early).

I think a lot of his prospects hinge on his forty time. Run something in the 4.4 range and a guy with his height and handsabilities gets a solid look. Run something in the 4.5-4.6 range and he's a late round or UDFA because he's so slightly built.
I think Sanders is in the same boat, although he's more solidly built which could help mitigate a slower 40 time.

Randy Moss doesn't have tree-trunks down there and he is pretty highly regarded.Bleeding Orange wrote:He is an excellent receiver, probably with the most underrated hands in college football, but at the same time he is pretty tiny. DD, that's getting pretty personal, isn't it? And I don't want to know how you know that.Dayons_Den wrote:Randy Moss doesn't have tree-trunks down there and he is pretty highly regarded.

Charles Sharon is the $hit!!! He's one of my all-time favorite BG players and certainly one of my all-time favorite receivers. I love the way he plays - he runs routes like they are effortless and make some unbelievable catches. He also takes his share of hits out there (like at NIU last year) and bounces right back up. Sanders has also turned into a fine receiver. I wish we still had Cole and J-Hawk back this year, but if some of the younger guys step up, we shouldn't miss a beat in production with Sharon and Sanders leading the way.
GO BG!!!
In order for Sharon to get drafted he will need to back up his Jr year with an improvement.
I'm thinking something like 1200-1400 yards and 12-15 TDs. That will get him on the radar for NFL scouts.
Then he needs to back it up with running something in the 4.45 range or better. His game is that of speed & solid route running. If he turns in a slow 40 time they will label him as a speed WR who was not fast enough to use that in the NFL.
The best thing that could possibly help Sharon's draft prospects is if Omar enters the draft. Scouts will notice Sharon as a result of the attention that Omar gets. In fact, even if Omar doesn't declare the fact that he's on NFL radars right now is going to help immensely. Scouts will come to watch our games, and they will see Chuck. After that it's all up to him.

Yep...hang up some big numbers against Whisky and the Spuds up in Boise and the football cognecenti will be on them like a lit major on JD Salinger1987alum wrote:Flip:
A lot will depend also on the numbers from this season. If Sharon and/or Sanders post some gaudy figures - 80-90 catches, a dozen TDs, that will go a long way toward getting them noticed. If they can combine a big year with a 4.4, that's a nice combination.
Just what I noticed at the Spring Game, it looks like he hates it when he's on the bench. The whole time he wasn't in the game he was running in place, stretching, getting in teammates faces. I still think we haven't seen what all he can do yet in terms of a playmaker.
