BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior offensive lineman Scott Mruczkowski has been named to the CollegeSportsReport.com Preseason All-America Team. Mruczkowski earned special mention to the team, which was announced Tuesday (July 27).
A total of 10 Mid-American Conference players were named to the team, with all but one earning special mention. UCF punter Matt Prater was named to the second team. In addition to Mruczkowski, MAC players on the special mention squad include Akron's Charlie Frye (QB), Kent State's Joshua Cribbs (QB), Miami's Martin Nance (WR) and Ryne Robinson (return specialist), Toledo's Lance Moore (WR), Andrew Clarke (TE) and Nick Kaczur (OL) and Western Michigan's Adam Anderson (P).
Mruczkowski, a fifth-year senior from Garfield Heights, Ohio (Benedictine H.S.), has already been named to the 2004 Rotary Lombardi Award and Rimington Award watch lists. A first-team All-MAC selection last year, he was named to the Falcons' "Top Offensive Lineman" in 2003, as BGSU went 11-3 overall and won the MAC West Division and Motor City Bowl crowns.
Mruczkowski has started 37 consecutive games entering the 2004 season. After starting at left guard in 2001 and 2002, he started all 14 contests at center a year ago.
The Falcons will open the 2004 season with a Sept. 4 contest at Oklahoma.
