Depaul Job

Post by bg67 »

I read an article today in the Chicago Sun-Times that Richmond coach Jerry Wainwright is the front runner for the Depaul job. The A.D. mentioned they hoped to make the decision by Thursday.

Wainwright and Coach Dakich are close friends. We played UNC Wilmington when Wainwright was the coach there a few years ago.

If Wainwright gets the DePaul job, maybe the Falcons will play them every now and then.

Maybe we could get Vandermeer back if we promised his parents a game at DePaul each season.

Wainwright might be the favorite, but all the reports out of Chicago and Richmond about contracts being offered and negotiations etc are false. It would be lovely to see the big city media be wrong on this one -- it's down to Hawkins or Wainwright. Everyone is on the Wainwright train. "Sources" close to Wainwright say he was offered at dinner. I'm sure the DePaul AD loves all the leaks coming from this guy's "sources"...Hawkins meanwhile is waiting by the phone, should know today who gets it. But if all the media claims (including Andy katz) were true, don't you think Hawkins would pull his name out. Hmmm

Hey dduncan....welcome aboard.

Tough break for DD, DePaul would have been a great opportunity for him.
I think the coming year is going to be very entertaining here in Bowling Green

Hm, looks like I was right about Dakich being here at least one more year. I'd be modest, but what fun is that?

I don't have any idea what Dakich's contract is set up like, but I think this is his defining year whether he stays at BG or not.

The AP just sent a story confirming the hire of Wainwright. News conference tomorrow.

As long as it isn't D.D. then I'm good with the decision-they needed to make it soon before everybody started complaining about hearing it every day...oh wait, too late. :D

I'm curious Tim, have you ever seen DD coach a game in Anderson Arena, or anywhere else???

You just seem to have a lot of support for a coach that you haven't seen do the job in person. I was just curious, because I think everyone on here knows what my thoughts on the job DD has done are.

Yes, but some of us that go to all the games are also not nearly as unhappy with coach Dakich as you are.
