BCS to open up to ALL conferences.
BCS to open up to ALL conferences.
The way I understood this article, is that the BCS will be continuely evaluating each conference's performance, and re-adjusting the 6 automatic bids as they see fit. I.E., the MAC could theoretically replace the Pac-10 if it outperforms it top to bottom in a period of time. The MAC or any smaller league gaining an automatic bid this way still seems unlikely, but hey, it's a step in the right direction. For the BCS, stepping over a cliff would be a step in the right direction.

I thought we said ANTI-trust?Beginning in 2006, Notre Dame will earn an automatic BCS berth with a top eight ranking in the final standings, Weiberg said. Also, under a new arrangement, Notre Dame is now guaranteed BCS money every season -- even when they don't play in a game.

Re: BCS to open up to ALL conferences.
So - who is # 6 right now? The top 5 are are in no particular order the Big 12, Big Ten, ACC, SEC and PAC-10. NOw we get to this old "which conference is better" garbage concerning the Big East, MWC, CUSA and the MAC.NY-BG-FAN wrote:The way I understood this article, is that the BCS will be continuely evaluating each conference's performance, and re-adjusting the 6 automatic bids as they see fit. Could this be a catylist to get the MAC to drop bottom feeders? I would think that the BCS would want the conference with the best top, but one could certainly look at the dregs of the MAC and use that as a way to keep the MAC out of the top six forever.
