Jim Jackson Video

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

I know it's not BG basketball, but hey... it kinda is because you can see Ed Colbert in some of the clips. ;-)

It's a big download, so please, be patient and if you're on a dialup, it might be best to ask me to burn you a copy if you REALLY want to see it.

jj.mpg is about 24MB... enjoy!!

All fired up!!

I was relatively young when JJ was in high school but I can still remember seeing a couple of games thinking it was not even fair for him to be going up against these high school kids. It was like man vs. boys. Those are some sick passes he is throwing there.

1989 -- Jim Jackson, Toledo Macomber, 6-6, sr., 31.5 points, 11.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3 steals per game.

Two time Ohio Mr. Basketball, JJ was an animal in HS. I graduated HS in '88. I remember driving into Toledo to catch City League games just to watch him play. He had some pretty solid teammates too, Donnie Dobbs (who went on to play at New Orleans maybe??) and Big Ed Colbert... That era of City League ball, with Scott and Macomber battling it out, was as good as it's been in Toledo for as long as I can remember.

Didn't Scott and Macomber play to a 16 - 14 final score one year or something insane like that? Ben Williams completely put the brakes on and there wasn't a shot-clock in Ohio HS ball then.

JJ has been an NBA enigma too, which I've always wondered about. Everywhere he goes he contributes to the team with pretty good numbers, yet it seems nobody can get rid of him quick enough...why? Meanwhile Penny Hardaway is making a max contract.

Donnie Dobbs actually went on to the University of St. Louis(you were close, it is a city on the Mississippi River). Myron Bell was also on that Macomber team and went on to play safety at Michigan St. and then a few years for the Steelers.
