Now, THAT is VERY true...I still remember my brother and parents talking about watching WSYX out in Tempe the night before the NC game. They were interviewing the janitor that was cleaning the stadium before the game! Now, if that isn't the definition of obsesive-compulsive syndrom, I don't know what is.

With the punter - from what I understand, Blackney's last moments as Falcon head coach were horrid. Perhaps if had stayed the course, who knows what would of happened though. 2000 was surly a bad time for Falcon fans --just think what it was like for the players?

I know Chad Long pretty well and he says that the last few games under Blackney were terrible, unlike what it is like now.

Had he (Turano) stayed around, his opinion may be different, but it is not. I am not sure if I can fault a guy for saying that either. Heck, he walked on at OSU, got a scholarship, and if continues to have a great year, may get a chance to play at the next level.

I wish we could get Gerling on here to elaborate on Blackney's last season. The most unsettling part about that season is that Blackney basically announced his resignation in mid-September but continued to coach the team! Wow, talk about a bad vibe. They should've just had an assistant take over...but then again...the mood was pretty much set after that loss at Buffalo.

Weirdest thing about the 2000 season? Maybe 5 of those games were televised!!!

I know Lord Byron and possibly SF were at that Buffalo game. I drove 3 hours from Akron for it...  It was the lowest point of my BG life.

Also, most of those 2000 losses were close ones...at least in the MAC!

Buffalo 20, BG 17 (Turano missed 2 FG's and Buffalo scored the winning td on a big run with less than 2 min left)

Akron 27, BG 21 (BG failed TWICE on 4th and goal at the Akron 1 yd line in the 4th! That sucked big time!)

Miami 24, BG 10 (BG actually led this game 7-0 at the half...only to see Miami score 24 points in the last 17 min of the game)

Marshall 20, BG 13 (BG led 13-0 at the half, 13-3 after 3! Marshall scored 17 4th quarter points to win...including a 60 yrd punt return for the game winner!)

Ohio U 23, BG 21 (Mike Knapp missed a FG with 2 min left that could have won it).

As you can see, BG could have easily won 5, 6 or even 7 games in 2000.
We won't talk about the finale at UT.

That was SWEET when Nate took out the OK player on the punt return (just glad their player wasn't hurt).

Hey man - You got tackled by the punter!

I think Petersen faked being hurt because he was embarrased  that the punter tackled him. :P

I wouldn't doubt it. Heck I'd play being hurt too if the punter tackled me.

Knew Jon Mazur pretty well. I thought he was gonna cry when they lost to Buffalo! He came into our English class that next Monday looking like a ghost.

Akron 27, BG 21 (BG failed TWICE on 4th and goal at the Akron 1 yd line in the 4th! That sucked big time!)
Browns fans remember Metcalf up the middle. How about JG up the middle? OVER & OVER & OVER. In all I seem to recall they missed from the 1 yard line about 6 total tries, no? All of them were runs, I think all were Gibby.
Marshall 20, BG 13 (BG led 13-0 at the half, 13-3 after 3! Marshall scored 17 4th quarter points to win...including a 60 yrd punt return for the game winner!)
Due to the crap of the season, I decided to go paintballing that day instead of watching the game. I saw the finish on Television and was glad that I went to play paintball. I woulda been PISSED!
As you can see, BG could have easily won 5, 6 or even 7 games in 2000.

One of the coldest games I've ever seen. I was still there cheering my butt off when we scored a meaningless late FG though! I remember yelling at the UT fans, "Plenty more where that came from!" :) It was a pounding, big time. My one friend from UT & I were the only ones of our group to sit out the whole game. The rest spent the 2nd half in the restroom warming up.

Thanks Hammb!

I remember watching the UT-BG game on ESPN2. I remember I was sick...and stayed at school instead of going back to my parents house for Thanksgiving.

BG just looked miserable out there. What horrible way to end an already miserable season: freezing cold, on Toledo's rock-solid turf, Blackney's lack of concern, nearly a 40 point loss, and broadcasted on national TV for everybody to see. Ick.

Hey...does anyone have this game on tape!?
