Personaly, I think he's not "in the game" enough as a head coach. I also, think his comments about the band were completely out of line. Be that as it may, we've got him for at least one more year, so hopefully the team will keep improving.golfertk14 wrote:Well I'll be honest, I've watched him for a year or two and that's just my opinion based on my viewing time.

Wait, I think thats a red dot on my forehead. I know plenty about basketball. At least enough to know that I don't personally feel he is the coach for BGSU. Some agree, and some disagree, but that has nothing to do with ones basketball knowledge......and alot of the people that complain about DD, don't know "SQUAT" about basketball!!!!!!

his inability to recruit players who want to stay here is staggering and i think that will ultimately be his ticket out of here. how can you expect to build a program if you can't keep players for even three years?
this season will be a true test of his coaching abilities. let's see if he can implement a system that will take advantage of his players abilities. if not, i think he's gone after the '05-'06 season.

Your right.....
This DD's season to make or break. He's got to get something done that resembles us doing major things in the future assuming players are still here and all that good stuff. :-\ I don't really know how good we will be with 6 or 7 or more possibley incoming freshman but you never know. If DD gets us to the MAC Tourney semi's this year with this young class and with all these transfers, then I think DD might get an extension. That would be a miracle in itself.

And just HOW MUCH "viewing time" have you accumulated? BG has been on Cleveland area TV only about 3-4 times in past 2 years...you're making a judgement based on that?golfertk14 wrote:Well I'll be honest, I've watched him for a year or two and that's just my opinion based on my viewing time.
I'm not saying that DD is a great coach, and the loss of players has disturbed me as well, but the kids were fun to watch this year...and I've been watching BG roundball for a long time...face it, we "expected" this team to do poorly,or at best "so-so"....they wound up 18-11, going to the Gund, MUCH further than most of us thought after Lewis etc. left the program last year.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
How do you expect a coach to keep players when so many players do a one-and-out or two-and-out? I haven't been the biggest supporter of DD, but I do know that a lot of players look at college as one final springboard to get them the extra 2 mill.BGFalcons232 wrote:his inability to recruit players who want to stay here is staggering and i think that will ultimately be his ticket out of here. how can you expect to build a program if you can't keep players for even three years?

come on, you don't really believe your statement do you? BG isn't exactly an NBA factory. mid majors should be able to recruit the four year players since we're getting the second or third tier of talent as it is. i would buy that argument at UNC, duke or UConn, not bowling green. other mid majors can keep players four years, why can't we?BGDrew wrote:How do you expect a coach to keep players when so many players do a one-and-out or two-and-out? I think it's got a lot to do with the mentality that if they're good enough to start here, then they could very easily come off the bench at another more well known mid-major, or even major team. Honestly I think some of these players that we can't keep are more worried about the exposure to get the money than anything else.BGFalcons232 wrote:come on, you don't really believe your statement do you? The mentality of all basketball players, from junior high to college, is that they are NBA material. Until that mentality changes (or the NBA age limit), mid-majors will have the same trouble as majors in keeping players.BGFalcons232 wrote:come on, you don't really believe your statement do you?
