What a moron! Wonder when Savage and Crennel will sit him down and explain a few things to him...

He now joins the Jeff Kent "Evel Knievel" club...
I can't believe this-we throw all this money at him, he gets injured, and close to trainning camp, he goes and pulls something like this! Uterly careless. Hopefully though he's okay-we need him for the 2005-06 Campaign.

Apparently he hurt his knee & his shoulder in this act of idiocy.

This will cost him financially for sure. If he goes on the PUP list the Browns don't have to pay his salary. I'd also bet that there's a clause in his contract that might result in paying back some signing bonus as well.

MORON.

Is it just me or is there a giant black cloud of death over the clowns and their draft picks? Did anyone the previous ownership drafted actually pan out or are they all terrible and/or stupid? I feel kind of bad for Chucky Frye because he's now destined to fail in the league just because the browns drafted him. I mean, I despise cleveland as much as the next guy, but this is becoming just plain sad. At least they didn't draft J5. That may be the best omen for him in cleveland.

Can't tear up opponents when you have no one to throw the ball to. Oh wait, they picked up the best receiver in the draft...I keep forgetting

yea, if you like having a receiver who drops passes in big games. :butthead:

The only picks from the Dwight Clark era that are worth a crap are McCutcheon as a 3rd rounder in '99, and Northcutt as a 2nd rounder in '00.

From Butch Davis' time as draft guru his first day picks were awful, but he wasn't terrible in the 2nd day of the draft. Anthony Henry in the 4th was a good pick. Andra Davis in the 5th was a VERY good pick. He did grab Lee Suggs in the 4th round, which was also a very good pick, if he could stay healthy.

Where the Browns have really failed is with first rounders...it's uncanny, especially with so many of them taken so high:

'99 Tim Couch #1 overall
'00 Courtney Brown #1 overall
'01 Gerard Warren #3 overall
'02 Willie Green #16 overall
'03 Jeff Faine #21 overall
'04 Kellen Winslow #6 overall (traded #7 & 2nd rounder to move up one spot)

WOW...is that a who's who of who not to draft!? In fairness to them many people really liked some of these picks, myself included. Couch looked real good in college, my biggest beef there was that we didn't even work out McNabb, who I was really high on at the time...he made plays at 'cuse. Courtney was unstoppable in PSU, and who I definitely would've taken. Gerard was a Butch move. Apparently they had agreed to take Richard Seymore with that pick, then Butch comes in on draft day and overrules everyone and says, Gerard...a lazy tub of goo. Willie Green was reaching for a need. #1 RB in the draft, but none of the RBs were that good. Same with Faine. Winslow was touted as the best TE prospect ever and instant impact...I liked the pick, but not what we gave up to get him.

Of those picks Couch is out of the NFL. Courtney was let go this offseason due to injuries. Gerard was shipped off, essentially for Trent Dilfer, to Denver because he's a lazy ass. Willie Green smokes too much Green. Jeff Faine could become a good center, but the old regime went out and drafted an athletic, mobile center and tried to make him a mauler...STUPID. Hopefully the new regime will better use his talent. Kellen will likely get stabbed with a busted bottle in a bar fight any day now and we'll never see him again :(

If I were Braylon I'd buy a new house with padded walls & no windows. Only one door with 10 deadbolts on it, and he should only allow those in who know the password, which he would change 6 times daily. When he does leave the house he should do so in an overcoat, and ride a mule, never exceeding 5 mph.

Let's not forget the Butch Davis also actually drafted a long snapper. A LONG SNAPPER. IN THE FIFTH ROUND! I think Mel Kiper fell off his chair laughing when they announced the pick.

FWIW though, Pontbriand is still with the team, but none of those first round guys are. :x

Very true. But looking at Butch's drafts wouldn't you rather have the long snapper in the 5th round than his very first 5th rounder? You know, the one that was wanted for murder when we took him!?

Reports coming out of Cleveland now say Winslow may be lost for the year. The swelling is not going down on his knee which could be a sign of torn liggy's...

Makes me sick.....

No offense to the Browns fans but I hope the guy never plays a down. I hate his guts. I never understood why they picked a TE with their sixth pick anyway. Winslow's last season at Miami wasn't even very good.

Its because he played at Miami.* Bootch's first rule of the draft "always take a Hurricane. If a 'Cane isn't available, draft someone you missed out on recruiting to Miami.*"

I don't really care if I offend the browns fans, but I agree with these sentiments. from all accounts (I realize I don't know the man personally) Winslow is an idiot and a jerk. And I hate when jerkish idiots become rich and famous. I hope they make him pay back his whole signing bonus ricky williams-style and he never sees the field. On the bright side I think he did more on the field in a game and a half than the last few browns first picks have done their whole career. Okay so that side isn't all that bright.

Well, I'll join the crowd in kicking a man when he is down. I thought Winslow was wildly overrated coming out of tha U. I have a similar feeling about Edwards. Don't get me wrong, I like the Browns (although I hate Michigan) but I think Braylon might be the latest in Browns first round failures. I guess I shouldn't say "failure," since I think he can be a decent pro. Yet, I don't think he will live up to the expectations that come with being the third pick overall.
