While it would have been fun to have "one of our own", and someone with a proven passion for all things brown and orange, this guy's resume is definitely an impressive one.

In this morning's Blade thay had a story about Lou Holtz' recent stop in Toledo. He mentioned Urbie and the conversation they had prior to Meyer coming here. Urbie wasn't sure he wanted to come here because he didn't know iif it was a "good job".
Holtz told him that it probably wasn't because if it were a "good job" he wouldn't be up for it.
The hiring of Coach Lovett with his SEC and ACC experience and the hiring of Mr Horn with his very impressive resume leads me to the conclusion that openings here are now considered to be "good jobs"....

Definitely. Indeed. Without a doubt.Flipper wrote:The hiring of Coach Lovett with his SEC and ACC experience and the hiring of Mr Horn with his very impressive resume leads me to the conclusion that openings here are now considered to be "good jobs"....
I'd be very interested to see what Mr. Horn has in store for the athletic program, and that he's already begun to hit the ground running.

I think what Holtz meant was that no open job is an easy one. I don't think it was a stab at us, I just think he meant it would be an uphill climb for Meyer. And lets face it, when Blackney left, it was. When South Carolina opened up for Holtz it wasn't a good job either. And they were 0-11 with Holtz his first year.
I am assuming that he has been introduced to Mr. Jacobs by this time. Hopefully we'll see some serious marketing of season ticket packages over the next month or two. Congrats to Mr. Horn for landing the position. This wasn't a good job in 2000 and the first part of 2001. Our team was awful, attendance was minscule, our assistant coaches were severely underpaid. We were well under the 75 scholarship limit and we were using schoilarships to keep our graduate assistants around. Our training facilities were great for a decent sized high school.
