Do they do much other than show up at games with the flags before the National Anthem?FliccGirl wrote:Een-teresting. The colorguard is without an instructor-- sort of self-taught, yes? (Or have I just been really unobservant the past three years?) Has it always been that way, or if not, for how long, I wonder.
An interesting bit of information...

I will now dispel your ignorance.
This isn't meant to be an insulting question, but have you ever seen a marching band perform, golfer? Most of them have a bunch of girls (with, occasionally, a guy or two) all dressed the same, carrying big silk colored flags which they twirl and toss during the show. It adds another visual aspect to the performance. They also spin wooden rifles sometimes.
The colorguard you speak of is the one that ROTC sends to hold the flags during the national anthem. They're not affiliated with the marching band, and they don't twirl or toss or do anything like that. They do have a "drill team," whose members spin rifles during the anthem. My roommate from freshman year was on the Air Force ROTC's drill team.
