Boise State on the Schedule
I think we have coaching ties with both Wyoming and Boise. I don't see getting dropped from their schedule due to that alone.
Boise is a nice neo-western city. A nice downtown and nice campus. The airport makes sense. A great micro brewery and they often close a downtown alley and have concerts. Sun Valley and the Snake River are both about an hour drive.

The Broncos welcome this match-up as well
We are excited about the opportunity to play another top tier mid-major team from another conference. It should be an excellant game and both teams should be over the "new QB" syndrome by next year. Unless we have Sanford (whos a senior) replace Dinwiddie this year.

that's for sure...just like colorado state did to us this year. at least we hooked kansas state up with the freakin herd who beat them in manhattan after we pulled out of that game because they wouldn't come to oxford this year. so we sign with colorado state, beat them to death in fort collins last year, and they bail this year and we're stuck with indiana state to fill the scheduling hole.rc_ziggy84 wrote:Let's hope they don't stiff us like South Florida did. That's another long road trip and hopefully they'll make the return trip. Does anyone know why we don't get the front end of these series at home? Larger schools like Wisconsin I can understand. But why can't we convince Wyoming or Boise St. to come to the Doyt first?
We feel your pain. It sucks when that happens. You would think that when deals like these are made, they would put in financial penalties large enough to make it very hard for one team to back out on the second half of the deal.redhawk95 wrote:rc_ziggy84 wrote:so we sign with colorado state, beat them to death in fort collins last year, and they bail this year and we're stuck with indiana state to fill the scheduling hole.

This whole thing about schools bailing really gets me upset. A deal is a deal, for crying out loud.
So Colorado State got beat. That means it's OK not to show up the next time? I bet if Colorado beat them at home, they'd be glad to go to Boulder the next week for revenge.
Warthog - financial penalties are fine, but I think that's a last resort. I think schools need to have concrete reasons for abandoning these deals. Things like it costs too much money or we don't want to get our a**es beat don't make it. The NCAA should not allow this type of thing to happen.
If I were king (of the NCAA), I'd tell the AD at Colorado State to get his team's sorry behinds to Oxford. No ifs ands or buts. No buying your way out of the deal.
Man, this really torques me. South Florida and Colorado State can go pound sand IMHO.

Motown:
Look, there were 30,000 people in the stands when the RedHawks battered the Rams. Heck, Miami drew 23,000 for a game against BUFFALO! I'm sure they could get about 30,000 for a good non-conf. game like CSU. So as far as money goes, if they lose money, it's no more than Miami lost last year on their road trip. For the record, the Miami game was the second-highest attendance total for a CSU home game last year.
If we're talking bowls, well, you can't have it both ways. I'm sure the folks at CSU figured, hey, a MAC team. It's Div-IA, but its a bunch of patsies. We can get an easy non-conf. win against a D-1A team and that will help us come bowl time. Tough turkey, bozos.
Hey, they took a pounding from Miami and STILL made a bowl game, which they lost BTW.
This year, the bright boys in Fort Collins are travelling to Minnesota and USC for paydays (which, as you point out, is all about the dollar and why they probably backed out of the MU game to begin with). Their home game - Freakin' Montana State.
If I were a Miami fan, I'd be really REALLY REALLY P-O'ed.
My point exactly. I'd expect Colorado State to come into Oxford with their hair on fire and try to beat the stuffings out of Miami. And you're right, if we lose a home game (Wisconsin, for example), we should expect to return the "favor."Besides...Whatever happened to the fine art of retribution??? If Wisconsin beats us, you better be damn sure I will be looking to return the favor the next year!!!
If that's CSU's line, they can blow it out their ear.But I know we are talking NCAA Football and it all comes down to bowls, championships and the almighty dollar...

...and the end of the story is: we get stuck with pathetic Indiana State for our only non-conference home game. P-O'ed doesn't quite cover it.If I were a Miami fan, I'd be really REALLY REALLY P-O'ed.
If there is a plus side, the weather will be great b/c the game is in August (at night)...so the atmosphere should be rather lively all day and all night
all that whining aside, i was pleased to hear about the series with boise. that's great for you guys and good for the league. maybe we should schedule a home and home with marshall since they'll be in such a good league next year. yeah, right.
we just inked minnesota to a 2 for 1. they, like iowa, aren't afraid to travel travel to oxford. we also have northwestern (for what it's worth) coming to oxford in a year or two.

That is big time stuff. Who would have ever thought of a Big 10 team actually traveling to play at a MAC school?redhawk95 wrote:we just inked minnesota to a 2 for 1. they, like iowa, aren't afraid to travel travel to oxford. we also have northwestern (for what it's worth) coming to oxford in a year or two.

Ahhh...but we got a 1 for 1 with them! I'm also inclined to think that we may benefit financially by playing there rather than in BG. I think we could draw close to 50k for that game. There will be a TON of people that go out just to see football, there will be a lot of Wisconsin fans, and of course all the BG people that make the trek.rollalongFF0304 wrote:

And you get a chance to have your new starting QB actually start a game before going into the Big House. I hate that we have SEMS on our schedule, but it would have been nice to tee off on them before treking out to OU.YagerBomb05 wrote:...and the end of the story is: we get stuck with pathetic Indiana State for our only non-conference home game.
