Don't say that around here!

There is not a single player on our team that would've turned down a scholarship at OSU to player here. Not one. In fact there has likely never been, in the history of BG football, a player that turned down an OSU scholarship to go here.

Hambb,
I realize it was "before your time" but I DO believe that a certain 6'6" QB named McClure (or something like that

) turned down OSU to come to BG... if I recall correctly, it was the SAME year that a certain 6'5" QB named Kosar(or something like that

) turned down OSU to go to Miami (Fla. of course).... I can't be totally positive after all these years, but I do seem to recall this, since the 2 QB's went to school approx. 30 mi. apart or so while in H.S.

Thanks for the info Class... I, obviously, erred in the totality of my statements, but for the vast majority I believe them to hold true.
Like o&b said, this does not lessen BG football for me in anyway. I'm quite happy with things the way they are...in some respects its even fun to root for the underdog.
In my recent years of following recruiting I have never seen us land a kid who had an offer from any of the major football schools (OSU, UM, Miami(FL), Texas, USC, etc). However, we have progressed to the point where we can compete for kids with WVU, MINN, Indiana, Illinois, etc. I think that is a huge stride in our football program, and I do think we can continue to grow. I know we can compete with any team in the country, as we've proven the past couple years, so I'm not really that upset about not getting all these kids. One nice thing about not landing the top tier guys is that so many of them are pampered and egotistical. Most of our athletes have already had one humbling experience when they weren't king of the world during recruitment; certainly that experience is valuable to them here. I love BG football, and I root my ass off for them like everyone else here. I am not, however, able to delude myself into believing we can compete with OSU for recruits on any sort of consistent basis. Perhaps in the future, but not today.
