Ya know, I have a different feeling for Meyer these days. I still don't like the way he left but he got this thing turned in the right direction. Coach Brandon is the one building the program. I think Meyer will win a NC within 2 years. He can be a bit of an ahole...but he gets results. I can live with the fact he's moved on to a gig like Florida. I was just down there about 6 weeks ago and the city and campus are buzzing big time with him as the coach.

I'm with Factman...gimme the articles on Bowling Green football and Coach Brandon.

I agree that articles concerning BG and Brandon are better reads and more desireable, however I'll take the time to read articles about former BG coaches, players, etc. just to see what, if anything, was mentioned about our school. To that end I like seeing links posted here despite what they have to say. We may not like what it says, but, as I stated earlier, it keeps our institution in the public's eye (the place Meyer got his start, etc....) and it's always a good thing to stay informed about what's being said about BG (negative or otherwise).

Amen Freak! This is a Top 25 program that has done just fine since Urban left. We don't need the scraps he throws us to get media attention. Some of the pot-shots he takes are completely off the reservation: talks at truck stops? Is Frickers considered a truckstop? Also, he took over the program at its low point so expecting crowds of hundreds to hear his speeches doesn't make sense.

I would love to see how Florida would do in a game that is in temperatures below 60 some time..how about at BG in November? They always play in warm weather.

I understand the advancement game but still there is something unsettling about someone who says "I'm 100% not leaving" fully knowing that he is going to. He needs to learn some tact and PR skills. That and he has only been a head coach 4yrs now. I will reserve his greatness level compared to the others for a couple more years.
Interesting link of major college coaches. Urban is listed. Click on his name too. (Gives more detail)

Try comparing Urban to a few other coaches. For example, I found the comparisons of Urban to Lloyd Carr and Jim Tressel to be quite telling about Urban perception among players. Urban has some very telling descriptors such as assertive, drill sergeant, and corrupt. If someone like Tressel can get better reviews than Urban, than it should be very interesting to see reviews from those players who have been under Urban for four years, that is if he ever stays in one place for longer than two years.

Plus the ratings and description (troubled) for Rich Brooks (UK) looks just about right to me.

I have always wondered how his act will play in the long run. He is definitely a very good coach for turning a program around, but I think that survey may expose how he will play over a period of time. Time will tell.

I did some comparisons to Ty Willingham (the man who UM got fired) as well as Tressell, Bob Stoops, and Mack Brown.

I've said all along I just want to see him at one place coaching HIS recruits, not someone else's.

Good reason why they're 2 of the very best coaches in all of college football, IMO.

As far as I'm concerned, any one who comes through our program and moves on to the perceived "big time" garnering more press for BG is a good thing. He turned this program around and his continual climb up the ladder and our continued success brings us that much closer to where we want to be. These articles keep us on the map and in public's eye.
I'm in complete agreement with BGfan. Anything to garner attention to our school is good in the long run. Remember there's no such thing as bad publicity.

CFN's Florida preview trys to keep things in proper perspective and does a pretty good job I might add. With lines like:

There's a major difference between Bowling Green, Utah and Florida. Falcon and Ute fans were ecstatic to have high-octane winners that made their respective programs relevant on a national scale. Gator fans are expecting a national title. Now.

Meyer, known as the great coach of other people's talent, inherits a team loaded with athletes and possibilities.
