I don't want to start another OSU thread, so I'll just post within this thread.
1) Northern Illinois announced it will open its 2006 football season against Ohio State on Sept. 2 in Columbus.
2) The NCAA notified Ohio State University of nine rules violations (7 of these were for basketball), including improper cash gifts and the failure of the school and the coaches to monitor the men's basketball program. Ron Lewis may be watching the post-season yet again with OSU possibly being on extended probabtion.

I urge everyone here to talk to their bandwagon Ohio State friends and try now to convert them to a school without this crap.
If you know a BG grad who is still a tOSU fan, work on them now. Trade in your red and silver for Orange and Brown!

NIU is a serious long shot.UK Peregrine wrote:NIU could very well take OSU down. I know I'll be cheering for an NIU win over OSU. In fact, I pull for most everyone over OSU.SaxyIrishTenor wrote:Northern Illinios is going to get creamed. I can't wait.
There are MAC teams that can beat OSU, but I don't think NIU is one of them. The wide open offenses like UT, BG, Miami, all have a chance against OSU. NIU, on the other hand, is a running team first & foremost. Much better running teams than NIU have gotten trounced by OSU (see: KSU in bowl game).
For all their foibles OSU always puts out one of the best run defenses in the country. If you're going to beat them you damn well better be able to pass the ball consistently. Unless NIU has some players that I'm not familiar with or a dramatic scheme change between now & then, I don't see them beating OSU.
Miami this year, OTOH, could give OSU a game. Especially since Troy Smith is suspended for that game.

i thought OSU played Oklahoma St in their bowl game not KSU? but NIU could beat OSU but are less likely b/c they run the ball too much and all Big 10 defenses have been created to stuff the run... but i wouldnt completely count them out.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
I was thinking 2 years ago. KSU had Sproles & Roberson tearing everyone up till they went against OSU's defense.BGSUFootballFan wrote:i thought OSU played Oklahoma St in their bowl game not KSU? but NIU could beat OSU but are less likely b/c they run the ball too much and all Big 10 defenses have been created to stuff the run... but i wouldnt completely count them out.
Okie St. last year is another good example, though. They were a good running team that OSU beat fairly easily.
Running teams have a VERY tough time beating OSU. NIU has a shot, but they'll be a HUGE longshot, IMO.

No, it started as a "lets bash another school thread" and developed into a MAC thread because of a schedule.

I don't think anyone said anything about another school, I believe we're bashing tOSU.It's the Journey... wrote:No, it started as a "lets bash another school thread" and developed into a MAC thread because of a schedule.
Unless of course, you consider tOSU a school?
