Nehlen only had one losing season out of the nine he spent at BG.

BG honors him now, but the university gave him the royal screw job from what I understand. That one losing season cost him his job.

I suppose we have a good right to claim him as our own, though so does WVU.

That gives BGSU two former coaches in the CFHOF.

The problem for Coach Nehlen was he was always the bridesmaid, never the bride. From 69-71, UT won 35 straight. Then, from 73-75, Miami went 32-1-1. Nehlen always had good teams but they just weren't quite good enough.

Heck of a coach....congrats to Coach Nehlen!

This was the BG story the SID had for me.

Nehlen had a lot of good things to say about BG today at the press conference in Morgantown. He made mention of the Falcons a number of times.

Afterwards when I went up and congratulated, I told him I always saw his picture in the Ice Arena lobby. A large smile came to his face when he heard that and told me he'a always happy to meet a fellow Falcon.

man how I wish they had an RSS feed. Days like this with the Nehlen announcement and the Omar story are huge.

Here's a Nehlen trivia question for ya

What former NFL QB married one (his only?) of his daughters?

Crap. I swear I heard this recently, and the only name coming to mind is Todd Blackledge, but I don't know that I remember him playing in the NFL.

It isn't Harbaugh, is it?

After that, be ready for me to go through the alphabetical list of all-time NFL QB's. And ask about Joe Namath twice.
