A 11-0 BG- Do we really have a chance at BCS Bowl?

Post by Falconboy »

This is of course a BIG hypothetical here. Say BG is able to do the amazing and tears through the schedule beating up every team we come across, do we really have a chance of being invited to say the Orange Bowl or whatever? Granted, Utah was invited and rightly so but, they had the Fiesta Bowl stadium packed with the red of Utah fans. Now that is little scewed because Utah is a border state with Arizona anyway so it wasn't exactly a 1,000 mile trek for Uah fans. But Utah had the major fans support so that made them an obvious choice for that Bowl. Even if BG running through Wisky , Boise and the rest of the schedule is good enough technicly for a BCS Bowl , would we even get one considering our fan support has been still lame for the past few years. I don't sellout for UT is going to impress anybody. Although it would be great , I don't think we have a chance of selling out for Temple either , seeing as how they have so bad. Does anybody think we have a legitmate shot of making a BCS Bowl even with a undefeated record with our so-so fan support. Thats got to play into our chances even with the team doeing everything in their power to deserve going. Okay boys & girls , post on! :)

They could qualify automatically by being in the top 6 of the BCS standings.

If we go undefeated, I sure hope we get some fans in the stands. But it's the same argument every year really. A BCS bowl game is a little different though...especially the Orange Bowl. Being a college bowl game, you will automatically have fans that are just there to see the game that don't really support either team. However, if we had a bowl game in Florida, remember when Omar , Chuck Sanders, Derrick Lett, and Donald Sprenkel are from. I'm sure a lot of Delray Beach, Palatka, and Pensacola natives would show up to watch their players.

Also, most schools in Florida hate USC and west coast schools. With that in mind, I'm sure people would come to see Omar with all the hype he's getting. People are going to want to know if he is for real, if he's better than Leinart, and if he's the true Heisman candidate everyone keeps saying. So yes, we could sell out the Orange Bowl if we ever got there. While the other bowls would have worse odds, I still think we could do it!

i just hope our fan support goes up in general, we need to take adavantage of the opportunities this season... we need to make sure we arent sore losers too if we dont make it 11-0 or something else really good, but i think eventually people will catch on... the good part is that college football is so huge that there are lots of people still needing a team to truly follow, the bad part is that college football is so huge that no one wants to be a bangwaggoner and leave whatever team they were following... i think 1. the more TV time we get 2. the more big wins we get 3. the more marquee players we get ='s the more fans we will get... 11-0 would sure help the cause!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Making it to a BCS game is going to be an uphill battle. The team will have to go 11-0 and hope that Boise State and Wisconsin win out. It wouldn't hurt if Temple won a few big games.

Another HUGE thing is for MAC teams to have a good showing in their Non-Conference games.

But this is stuff we all know.

Actually, we have to go 12-0. Don't forget the MAC championship game.
