You are crazy if you are complaining about the ticket prices at BG, i go to Purdue and the prices for tickets here are insane. Purdue is one of the best known universities in the world and they have a football team that has gone to 8 STRAIGHT BOWL GAMES!!!!!!! with BIG HYPE ALL of those seasons with Heisman QB contenders like Drew Brees and Kyle Orton, the all-time NCAA receving leader in Taylor Stubblefield was here the last 4yrs, and you know what the only sellouts they had were OSU, MICH, Wisc, ND and thats b/c those teams brought a lot of people, they didnt even sellout for the big rival game against IU any of those years, and the stadium only holds 62,500 which is really small compared to other Big 10 schools with similar records, maybe its because a single ticket for General Admission cost $48????? whoa! you got it made at BG even if they raise the price significantly
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

WAIT just one minute....
IU didn't bring any of their 18 football fans to Purdue? Huh.....

Anyway, I'm a student, so I get into the games for free, but even once I graduate, I won't have a problem with these ticket prices. Really, its a couple of dollars. Buy one less beer at the bar, one less pack of cigarettes, or one less Club Chalupa combo from Taco bell and you've got your ticket increase money. Go ahead, complain, but its still a hell of a deal. Adios, Jeff

I would certainly not buy this AT ALL. Toledo is a hop skip and a jump away so no travel issues...possibly a higher security budget only? Besides, the game is on ESPN which the University will undoubtedly get SOME money from.

I think a guaranteed sell out with 30,000+ screaming fans on national television would do more for the University then the few extra dollars they might make on the folks who do attend.

And I don't think I have read one post in this thread or any other that thinks that $16 for a reserved ticket is expensive. Just make all tickets the same price for every game. Now if we have to pay an OOC opponent more to come then raise it for one game only.

Just marking up the Toledo game tells our opponents that they are not as good as Toledo, it tells Toledo that they are better than we are, and it tells our players that the other home games are not as important as Toledo.

Actually NFL prices are not that bad, IMO. They're FAR cheaper than your typical big 10 game. I think my tickets last year for the Browns were $33 and they were MUCH better seats than $47 seats at Ohio Stadium will get you. I think you can sit in the lower endzone sections for about the same as our UT prices, actually.

I can understand that many people don't like the NFL, because its all about the money, but in all honesty their prices are generally not nearly as outta whack as you'll find at BCS games.
Hammb,
I didn't realize the Browns tickets were $33. That doesn't seem so bad.

All the more reason to buy season tickets...

Miami's season tickets are $65, however if I bought individual GA tickets... $20 a game... so I think $65 is a great deal. My tickets to OSU will cost me $60 each...

Also I think alot of you should be buying tickets to get ready for the BG vs. Wisconsin in Cleveland game... this will give you first priority in my mind, and therefor the best seats at the stadium.

A Problem Typical OSU fan has that we don't.......

Post by Falconboy »

Is that there are long waiting lists to get tickets alot of times I've been told by a OSU friend of mine. There are just so many freakin OSU fans waiting to get tickets that they can easily charge 48-60 bucks for tickets becuse they they know they will sell them easily. We just don't have that kind of rabid exctitement to get tix here at BG. Couple the fact we don't play really good teams on a average week during the season except for 2 or maybaye 3 games, and so you've got few fans who want to spend 14 or 16 bucks to see us pound EMU , Ohio , Centeral Mich , or Western to smithereens. For OSU , they've got big matchups everyweek because every game is cruical to winning the Big10 and getting to the "mythical" national championship.

Not to change the subject, but it is quite easy to get tickets to their early season OOC games. They are on quarters, so their students are usually not in school until 3-4 weeks into the football season. They always sell out the games, but if you go online in the week leading up to the game (they don't release tix till the week of the game), you can easily get some tickets for those games. I saw them play Akron & Kent that way.

Once their students come into town and Big 10 play begins you can forget about it. Tickets are there from scalpers (a lot of students sell theirs for profit), but its nearly impossible to get them from the athletic department straight.

A couple of summary points on ticket prices. I think the final total for the GMAC bowl was about $400/ticket....once you factor in all associated trip costs for me and my son. And my only question to Paul krebs on the field after the game was "where we going next year" But you know, it's not the price of a ticket for a game, it's the chance to build a lasting memory with a son, a daughter, a spouse, or a couple of friends! Back me up on this 87Alum!

And yes somebody told me to "Sit Down"....happened about 5 minutes into the game...you know, about the point where BG was taking an early lead. Gawd, "sit down"...at a BOWL game?? I just picked us up and moved over to where others were standing who turned out to be Suisham's family and Crumpler's brother and nobody is going to tell that dude to sit. Maybe I should have stood where Bressler's organization gave me my real seats....up in Row 57.

And how the heck does that work...you call in a day or two after its announced, directly to the school that's playing so they get the credit for the sale...and poof...your in Row 50 freaking 7...aka the last row of Ladd Peebles. Maybe that's an idea Scotty B. put all of the rabid fans in one section and all of the pre-class of 1950's in another. Heck give them 50 yard line seats...me I prefer being on the 20's to get first hand look on the face of the corners as Sharon and Sanders blow past them for 6.

I don't get how it works that way, especially for a bowl game, although the seats for the MCB were outstanding, and I think I was one of the last on this board to purchase tickets.

From what I've heard on the Wisky board, the visiting school seats at Camp Randall are far from desireable. We're now balancing having tickets in hand and sitting far away, yet with BG faithful, or making friends at the tailgate and moving down that way.
