I'm a realist and I think we beat Wisky by 7 and I think we will lose a close one to Boise. I see us beating up on Miami and Toledo as well as all the other MAC teams we play. I think we finish 13-1, win the MAC and our Bowl game.

It is the weekend...

If you put "adult" in front of "movie" (OK grammar sticklers; also change the "a" to "an") you have my perfect weekend planned.

This could be the year. Wisconsin is Toast. I feel good about every game but Boise State. I am going to say 12-1 beating NIU in the MACC.

I understand the concern with Miami because of history. We see these things all across college football: Oklahoma over Texas, Florida over Georgia, Michigan over Ohio St. before it became Ohio St. over Michigan. And, I know, we can't just dismiss these "curses." That being said, when I compare BG to Miami, it seems clear that BG is better - even better enough to overcome home field advantage. This isn't two years ago when Miami was simply a better team.

That is a very good point. This should be the first time that we are actually the better team. All of the losses since 1997 (or whatever it is) we were suppose to lose. It's not like we are cursed, they were the better team.

I have no doubt we're the better team, but I also think we were better than UT & NIU last year, and that didn't seem to help us much. Certaiinly we can win, and I'm not exactly predicting a loss (not into predictions much). I'm merely saying I don't pencil that one in as a win right now.

I agree...since I'm just a fan, I can afford to look at the schedule and say it's a four game slate. Sweep Whisky, Boise, UT and Miami and we just may be this year's Utah or this year's two years ago Miami.

I pray to God we are not this year's Miami of two years ago. I hate Miami more than just about anything, but the fact that that team played in the GMAC bowl was absolutely ridiculous. They got completely hosed by the NCAA bowl system, and I can only hope that the same does not happen to us...

I, too, don't understand the fear we have playing against Miami, even considering the 0-2 record against them in 2003, and the overall series record.

Their team doesn't seem that impressive. Unless they slipped someone in there to replace Betts I wasn't aware of.

I mean, sure, it's a game we could lose. We could theorically lose all of them. But I don't see why so many people are predicting a loss to them.

I say the sky is the limit. We have a chance to win 'em all.

Also, I do think we are at least a tiny bit better than Miami, if not more.

But the game is at Oxford, wiping out at least some of our advantage, whatever that might be.

I am gonna predict 13-0 for one reason and one reason only. The reason is that if we do lose any games, I can come on here and say what a disappointing season we had and can rightfully say that I will not be disappointed if Brandon finds another job because he can't seem to get over the hump here.

The Miami folks seem to think Betts will be just fine and are quite excited about a few other players poised to have breakout seasons.

Remember, too, that there are TWO distinct "streaks" that we have to overcome.

1) Beat Miami. As stated, we haven't been able to do that in long time.

2) Name the last time we won a "big" conference game on the road.

Well put. I couldn't agree more.

betts is still a question mark. he has the tools (unbelievable arm, good size) but maybe not the head (too many mistakes in big games). will he be smarter this year? there's no question we have the best defense in the league, but do have to replace some quality d-linemen. our linebackers and secondary are very good. offensively we get martin nance back to complement ryne robinson and the o-line returns four starters. i've read a lot of folks say they believe bg is better than miami, but with such a veteran team returning, we'll certainly be very good. probably good enough to win the east, but that will be settled over the next several months. should be yet another exciting season.

RH95 is a classy fan. He knows his stuff and gives credit where due.

BG/Miami for the East....it could very well come down to 11/15.

GOOOOOOOOOO FALCONS!!! Only 87 days to go. Damn this is exciting.

You may have the best defense but I don't think it is so cut and dry that you could say "there's no question...". Kent St. came on pretty strong last year particulary at the end of the season.
