Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.

2nd Favorite School?

Post by PGY Tiercel »

Ok, so now that this Other School forum is here, the question begs to be asked. What is your 2nd favorite school after BG (ok so maybe BG isn't the favorite school of those of you not going/working/graduated from BG, but it should be :D ) and the follow up explain why: such as you go/went there (ex. Me at UK, Tech at Miami), Your significant other (or a nice hook-up) went there. etc. No bashing anyone for their picks here (especially if they say OSU)

I guess a second question would be, what is the school that you most hate and why.

Well, i'll put my head on the block first. My second favorite school is OSU, that is Ohio State University and not Oklahoma State University or Oregon State University. I have had a lot of exposure on campus. I have made several trips there in high school, attended many functions outside of athletic events, and even applied there. I had a half scholarship from the School of Music and another half scholarship from the marching band. I was headed down the road to Columbus until my audition here at BGSU. I came to campus and it was not so bad. I auditioned and that was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Then I sat in on a Men's Chorus rehersal and the decision was made. I had to be a part of that group and that ment attending BGSU. So, I became a Falcon and have been happy about it ever since, especially since this is where I have met my future wife.
As far as the school I hate the most, that is easy. I HATE CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY!!!!! That place should be the poster child for a nuclear blast site. I have never run into people who are more rude and have their noses stuck up so far before in my life. If that place ever closes I will be there to watch and smile with great satisfaction

Other schools I like:
2. Kentucky-Lived in Louisville for a short stint and much of my mother's family lived there. Jamal Mashburn is my favorite player of all time.
3. Michigan-they piss OSU fans off
4. WKU
5. Ohio
Schools I hate:
1.OSU- Always have always will. Hated them before I ever knew I was going to BG. For some reason it was just always more fun to root against the team everyone loves.
1tie.Toledo-no explanation necessary
3.Duke

1. Notre Dame (I'm an Irish Catholic - what do you want?)
2. OSU (Buckeye by birth; Falcon by choice)
3. Arizona State (Go Devils!)
4. Air Force (my best friend goes there, so I keep a eye on the sports)

Thats it I think. I'm sure if I saw other people's lists my memory would be jogged, but those are the ones I really follow.

After BG it's

1. Mizzou
2. Notre Dame
3. other MAC schools when they are playing out of conference
4. other Big 12 schools when they are playing out of conference
5. Michigan when they are playing Ohio State.
6. Any school that is playing Nebraska
7. Any school that is playing Ohio State
8. Any school that is playing USC
9. Any school that is playing Air Force..nothing but a bunch of spoiled steroid junkies if you ask me...having been in the AF 8 years now, I can honestly say that I root for Army and Navy against the Air Force. What the cadets get away with is murder compared to what people in Officer Training School and Enlisted Basic Training. I will get off my soap box now.

Arizona State Saxy? We're gonna have words.

And for everyone else, I say that because in August I am off to attend U. of Arizona. It remains to be seen how big of a Wildcats fan I become, because quite frankly not much outside of BG exists for me. I'm pissed that I'm going to be missing most of next season, and I probably won't make it to many U of A homegames unless BG has a bye or the time difference is enough for me to watch BG first.

As far as schools that I hate, you can pretty much put the entire Big 10 on the list (except for Indiana, I suppose - they're just cute). It is without a doubt the most overrated and conceded conference ever contrived by the mind of elitist, arrogant, can't-see-past-the-end-of-their-own-suckage idiots. I hate them. With a passion. When Big 10 schools play OOC, I root against them no matter who the opponent is. When Big 10 schools play each other, I try to figure out a way that both schools can lose in my head. It helps to keep me from throwing things at the TV.

They aren't as bad as Turdledo, though.

I knew you were going to say something but I couldn't figure out what, Bleeding. You'll just have to get ESPN U to get the BG games.

And I think we'll have words for you calling Indiana "cute." Cute? Huh?

And as far as two teams I hate playing each other, I cheer for natural disaster to take them out, but that only really happens at pro games, i.e. when the Steelers play the Ravens. We all know Toledo will never be good enough to play U of M. ;)

Can't believe no one has said Florida yet as their #2. They got a great coach that you just have to root for.

But in all seriousness, I would say Notre Dame is up there for me. And any 'mid-major' team that is trying to break into the BCS. So, last year it was Utah and Louisville.

Teams I hate? For some reason I dislike SEC teams. Maybe it is because they are on ESPN every Saturday night so you are stuck watching them. Or maybe it is because I think they are all overated and never can win a big game out of confernce. (Save for LSU winning the championship the other year. Of course they should have been playing USC and would have gotten thier butts kicked, so maybe that one doesn't count.)

So I should answer my own question. Wasn't really a UK fan at all when I came here, but since I have been here, I have really come to love living in Lexington and going to UK. I probably would have really enjoyed undergraduate study here as well. My first year here, the football team had strokes of genius (other than dumping gatorade on the coach moments before watching LSU throw that 80+ hail mary to win the game with no time left), of course than they went and got Rich brooks and now its just painful to watch every saturday. The atmosphere for basketball is amazing, and love going to Rupp once a year. Though unlike Warthog, I really like SEC athletics. Maybe its because I have made some good friends who come from other schools or just the coverage that we get in lexington of the games.
My Big Ten team would be Penn State, mostly because my brother was on the gymnastic team and he was friends with several guys on the football team.

I hate UofL when UK plays them, other than that I enjoy watching them in football. Can't watch Basketball much because Rick Pitino reminds me of AL Pacino in Devils advocate.
Always root agaisnt Miami(FL). But other than toledo don't really hate any other schools. I have enjoyed my time on just about every campus I have visited.

Oh, yeah, I hate Cornell. the bastards didn't accept me into their Neuroscience program. I didn't really try to get in (thats the key for graduate school) but still, they missed out on greatness.

# 12 love (1-11 is BG): tOSU, sorry people, I was brought up tOSU. I was accepted to tOSU and BG, and now I'm here so that should mean something.

Hate? Both schools up North.

Actually, the Steelers did have a game delayed by a natural disaster last year. Hurrican Jeanne postponed their game with the Dolphins till 8:30PM. Miami also had to play a game on Saturday because of Ivan.

Oh, why not, I'll chime in. Other than the painfully obvious for both like, and dislikes...

I was born and raised a Michigan fan. Dad is a U of M Alum, and my family is orginally from Michigan. I was the 1st one in my family born in Ohio. Other than that, it depends on who's playing, and which team winning will help BG. So, yes, that does mean that there are occasions that I do root for "that school up north" (never thought I'd ever use that term negativly til I came to BG), but it ONLY is situations that will in one way or another help BGSU (i.e. OOC, TU winning puts us in a bowl or championship game, etc...). Don't really have any loyalities other than BGSU or U of M (in that order!)

As for teams I hate/dislike/can't stand...OSU. Between the obnoxious "casual" fans, "you live in Ohio, why don't you like OSU" reterick, and just about everything else regarding that school, it just makes me sick. Also don't really like Notre Shame, the thugs from Michigan State (from both U of M football and BGSU hockey) and Miami University (although the girl I'm trying to hook up with goes to Miami, so I might have to litten my feelings toward that school). Oh...the University of Flordia, and their coach, can just disappear. Of course, I said the same thing about Utah last season. Yes is was REALLY cool having a Mid Major messing with the Bull Crap Series, did it really have to be that lying SOB at the helm?

LSU easily had the best defense in college football that year...you realize that defense wins championships, right?

Even when growing up in Ohio, I loved SEC football. Tol me, there's more passion for it down south, probably due to the relative lack of older professional sports franchises when compared to other regions of the country, and the fact that many of the players are local, and tickets are still relatively inexpensive (compared with pro sports). And of course the tailgating is unbelievable...OSU cannot compete with Baton Rouge, Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, Athens.

I wish BG would have not backed out of coming to Tiger Stadium a few years back...I would have honored my allegiance to the falcons (and they might have actually won that game), but other than that I root for LSU, even over the Buckeyes.[/quote]
