Class of 2006
Just for a little bit of fun, who are some of the NW Ohio area High School football players that you would like to see be recruited by BGSU and their coaching staff for next year? I have heard it said on here that some believe that the coaches roam this site more than they'd like to admit, so here is your chance to possibly get some names out there. If possible, give a player's name, high school, height, weight, stats, and post-season accolades.

Were' not goin to know of any kids in Georgia , Florida, Texas, or Oklahoma unless your subscribed to these recruiting services. Personally I don't know of any kids around here that would be good for us cuz I don't watch enough HS football around here. I havent' watched any since my friend played for St. Johns 2 years ago.

No, I don't mean Georgia, Florida, Texas, or Florida. I think there are always three to five kids in NW Ohio alone that could play for BG. Last year BG lost out on a couple of linebackers. Waugh from St. Johns who went to Cinci and a big kid from Maumee (can't think of his name) who I think went to Miami (OH). Obviously Leady from Eastwood was a local, but he decided to play baseball for BG instead. There has to be a couple of kids in the city of Toledo or the surrounding communities that can play. There are always good teams in NW Ohio (Kenton's from a ways back, all the MAC schools, the 2004 DVI state champions Hardin Northern).

I will list some names that I've read on another site (JJHuddle.com).
Marc Kraus, WR, Patrick Henry - Kraus goes probably 6'3" and is getting looks from some good DI programs, most notably Iowa. He would fit in well with our system.
Michael Ridgeway, RB, Hardin Northern - Ridgeway is a big kid (not sure of exact heighth, but looked real big in the state finals game) with some speed to burn. Would probably work out best for us on defense.
Toby Boeckman, DE, St. Henry - Boeckman goes about 6'6" if I remember correctly from the state finals game (in which his team did win the championship as well). He is the brother of current OSU back-up QB Todd Boeckman. I had heard somewhere that he was at BG for a visit.
Bo Frye, RB, St. Marys Memorial - Frye is a hard nosed player, probably more suited for defense at BG than offense. He is the fullback at St. Marys where they shove the ball down your throat. I think he may be about 5'10", possibly taller. His team also played in the state finals, but lost.
I think one of the most positive things here is that 3 of these kids are coach's sons (Frye, Kraus, and Boeckman...not sure about Ridgeway). A lot of the talent in NW Ohio gets overlooked because there aren't a ton of DI high schools like there are in Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Columbus. There are a lot of smaller schools that still play great football though. I think all four of these guys will be playing ball in college. I would have mentioned Homan, the LB from Coldwater, but he is already committed to Ohio State. Other kids I could have mentioned include some of the linemen from Versailles and a couple of kids from Clyde (Guhn and Schwartz).

We scrimaged Patrick Henry this year and this guy was just amazing. He has good speed amazing hands and is really good with the deepball. Needless to say he made the corner who was guarding him look really bad.duckunder53 wrote:I will list some names that I've read on another site (JJHuddle.com).

Pardon my naiveté, but is this an inside joke? Or, is it a commentary on BG's recruiting practices or what?
I assume it can't be about the talent in Ohio as compared to the talent in those other states, since Ohio clearly has much more talent than Oklahoma and Georgia as since Ohio is top-4 overall with California, Florida, and Texas.

One area high schooler who is getting plenty of recruiting attention is Toledo Rogers safety Peris Edwards. I understand BG is on this young man's short list and he is viewed as quite a prospect.
I believe we are on some other kids from the area including the Patrick Henry player mentioned and a player or two from the Fostoria area.
If our coaches believe the players are MAC top kids, we will recruit them- from Bowling Green High or Canton McKinley or farther if we have a contact- and if we evaluate them as not MAC top kids, we will pass.
And, as always, we will miss a few and get a few. Just have to hope we beat the right teams for the right kids. It's an art, not a science.

Duckunder53, I have seen and heard that Matt Guhn has verbaled to Michigan on a full ride wrestling scholarship. I agree that he still should be persued for football by BG.Ohio heavyweight champion wrestlers most often go on to major college football careers.Don't know too much about Shwartz, but he most be decent too.

Prarie Falcon - You are right. I completely forgot about him committing to Michigan. He's a great wrestler, although he doesn't look real scary like some of those heavyweights (old Clyde heavyweight, former OSU Buckeye, and current Buffalo Bill Tim Anderson for one). I will be at the BG Football camp and I will try to bring back some rumors on kids there that got offers or are being talked to heavily by the coaches.
