This is from Coach Brandon and it's the truth.

I saw that too. And not only do I agree, but its another example of (let me coin a phrase right now on the spot..) "Brandon-speak". While maybe he's got the wool over my eyes, from the first time I heard this guy talk, I thought "man, for a first time head coach, he's really got the quotes and cliches down". but now, everytime I read one of his quotes, the first instinct is that its coach speak, but then I think that its really what the man is thinking and feeling and that he might be onto something. And it could be that its 1:30am, but I keep thinking that he's not "saying all the right things", but "all the things he's saying are right on."Tricky_Falcon wrote:This is from Coach Brandon and it's the truth.

maybe its hindsight in thinking that Urban Meyer had a different agenda with everything he said, or maybe its the last 3 years I worked around OSU football and hearing enough "the punt is the most important play in football" crap out of Tressel's mouth, but it really is refreshing to hear coach Brandon say things about the program and wonder if one day he's just gonna come running out of the tunnel with his face painted brown and orange, carrying a big BG flag... *shrug*

I get the same feeling that coach Brandon truly loves BG football. It seems like the man really bleeds orange and brown. It's great to see. I'm still impressed we got over 23,000 to fill the Doyt.TG1996 wrote: but it really is refreshing to hear coach Brandon say things about the program and wonder if one day he's just gonna come running out of the tunnel with his face painted brown and orange, carrying a big BG flag... *shrug*

And I sincerely hope Coach Brandon sticks around for a long time. No BS with this guy. What you see is the real thing. Urban turned us around, no doubt. Coach Brandon is taking this program of ours to places never dreamt before...enjoy the ride!Flipper wrote:He may not have the "salesman" polish that Urban Meyer has, but Gregg Brandon is a very good football coach and he is committed to building this program.

I think that Coach Brandon is the real deal for BG. I can see him around for quite a while. Heck you never know, the way that we're progressing, he could be around as long as the Paternos and Bowdens of college football have stayed around with their teams after turning them into winners. I think that he feels indebted to BG and all the players that he has coached. Because remember, he was ready to follow Meyer to Utah when the players came in and said that THEY wanted HIM to be the next coach at BG, and then walked down and talked to Krebs right away. As a coach, that is something profound that you never forget. As an assistant coach for a women's junior college basketball team, I know that if my players came and said "we want you to be our next coach" and then told the AD that same thing, I would never leave. I think that coach Brandon has the same feeling that all of us do, and bleeds Orange and Brown, now and forever.
