Another 2nd Generation Falcon Coming!!!

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Former Falcon and NHL goalie, Mike Liut's son, Justin will be a Falcon this coming season!!

http://www.tornadohockey.com/news/curre ... hiveID=338

"Texas Tornado forward Justin Liut will be attending Bowling Green State University in the fall of 2005. Liut's father, legendary NHL goaltender Mike Liut, also attended Bowling Green from 1973-77. "Justin was not a player that was heavily recruited when he joined us, so he has come a long way in the time he has spent with the Tornado," said Curtale. Liut worked hard in his time with the Tornado and had an exceptional stretch of games in the second half of the season, particularly in the road games against Wichita Falls. "Justin found a style that worked for him and for this team, and it paid off for him in the long run. I know he is working very hard to become a player that will consistantly be in the line-up during his time at Bowling Green, but we are very proud of him."

Welcome to BG, Justin!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Is it wrong that I'm singing "Brass Bonanza" in my head right now? This is awesome! Liut was one of my favorite NHLers even before I realized he went to BG!

Anyone out there (besides FF  ) know who battled Liut for net time during his tenure at BG? Just a little trivia for ya all. I think his initials were "A S" but I could be mistaken. If I am correct, this goalie was quite capable as well, which gave us a great luxury of being able to rotate keepers.

Eagerly awaiting.......................

Al Sarachman,

I may not have the spelling correct, but he and Luit shared the net during the 76 - 77 season which was my freshman year at BG. I believe that Sarachman was the main guy the season before stats wise, but Luit was the stronger of the two during their senior seasons. Except for Sigalet and Kruzich, the goaltending during the Ron Mason years was the strongest in school history.

I can't wait for the season to start.

Go BG!!!!

Hockey John.......76-77 was my freshman year as well. Did we spend some nights together at the Brathaus? Or maybe Howard's?

BC Ziggy 58,

I did not spend much time at Howards. Our paths probably crossed at the ice arena as I got hooked from game one of the 76 - 77 season. A lot of good hockey memories from those times. Who would you say is the best Falcon hockey player of all time? I like asking that question of long time Falcon Hockey fans. My pick would have to be Kenny Morrow #3.

Sorry HJ, been awhile since I've visited.

#3 is indeed a very good pick. Not sure anyone is/has been much better.
From a position standpoint:
D - Ken, Blake a close second
O- Zinger.
PIM/Enforcer- Rick Allen (might have been before your time, however he was the ultimate "peace keeper".)
Keeper- Kruzich '84 MVP in my opinion.
