Nolan Reimold makes 3rd team All-American

Post by dduncan »

They had to put him somewhere. They put him as the 3rd team DH. Too good to be left off. Congrats.

Good call factman. Nolan's signing was announced on the 18th.

NEW GUYS: The Orioles announced that they've signed 16 players they selected in last week's first-year player draft. They previously introduced first-round pick Brandon Snyder to the media.
The signees include outfielder Nolan Reimold (second round), right-handed pitcher Reid Hamblet (fifth), right-hander William Owen (sixth), outfielder Robert Andrews (seventh), right-hander Corye Spoone (eighth), right-hander Ryan Stadanlick (10th), left-hander Michael Gallaway (11th), catcher Kyle Dahlberg (13th) first baseman Mark Fleisher (14th) right-hander Jeffrey Moore (17th), shortstop Ryan Steinbach (20th), shortstop Stuart Musslewhite (24th), right-hander Daniel Lonsberry (25th), outfielder Miguel Abreu (28th) and left-hander Mark Horner (41st).
A few of the signees may play for the Class A Aberdeen Ironbirds, while the majority will be headed for Baltimore's rookie league affiliate at Bluefield, WVa.

Nolan scored the first and only run for his new team the Aberdeen Ironbirds. He hit a double his first at bat. Nolan had two of the teams four hits last evening. Not to shabby of a start.

He went 0 for 4 yesterday, but still has a .350 average. Pretty soon they'll be pitching around him, considering the whole Aberdeen team has scored 12 runs in 6 games and obviously haven't won a game yet.

Sounds like he's playing some quality ball. I haven't followed many players through the minors. How quickly could he move up if he keeps hitting this well?

Only a slight possibility that he'll go to low-A Delmarva. He'll have to continue to impress and start hitting with power. Also, he'll have to luck out that the low class-A team's RF either gets called up or injured. Even then he may not see a promotion. There's a chance he improves well at the fall instructional league and impresses in the spring that he'll start in high-A next year. Too early to say.

Now that I say he need to start hitting with power, Nolan hit his first minor league HR tonight, and has 5 RBI. In the top of the ninth he is 2 for 5 with a double and HR.

Nolan had a HUGE game last night:

4-4, 2 HRs, 1 3B, 3 RBI

For the season so far:

.375 AVG
5 2Bs
1 3B
4 HRs
11 RBI
5 BBs
14 Ks
.444 OBP
.771 SLG
.1215 OPS

If he keeps this up, he may even move up a level this summer. I've also seen Nolan have at least 2 assists, one at 3B and one at home.

He's leading the league in slugging %, OPS, and 6th in batting average.
