Well that was a quick sentencing!

You know, didn't an event similar to this happen at UT late last summer? A group of players going to a party and getting into a premeditated fight? I don't remember the details too well, but I do remember that it happened and only one of the numerous players involved recieved punishment from StayPuft.

I found it quite amusing and sad at the same time that in the MACABB's thread people are immediately trying to defend Amstutz without knowing any of the facts. Someone posted that this is evidence of a lack of discipline in Amstutz's program and immediately UT fans are saying that he hasn't had time to dole out punishments. Well, the fact of the matter is that because these are recurring events within the program it does seem to an outsider that there is no discipline within that program. It doesn't matter what the punishments are - those come after the fact. Its the fact that they are happening at all that makes it seem that way.

And please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make light of this (these) situations or poke fun at UT. As fun as our rivalry is with those guys, I wouldn't wish anything like this on anyone's program - especially our rivals. I want UT to be the best that they can possibly be -- heck, I want them to come into our game next year undefeated (both so it helps our SOS and so it hurst even worse when we smoke them). The last thing that I want to see is this program depleated by idiocy...

Its time that Amstutz lays down the law with these guys up there. Its not like their getting recruits from juvenile detention centers - they're getting them from the same places that we and everyone else in the MAC getst them from. Unfortunately nothing of the sort happened before this incident. :(

Your joking, right? This whole thread is about this incident. Transfer just gave the update on the whole situation.

Actually, no, I wasn't joking. I didn't happen to check the date on the thread. Being stupid is haaaaarrd... :(

My appologies to everyone who is offended by idiocy.

Hopefully this young man will serve his time and pick himself back up and continue on.

College may be out of the question since he lost his scholly, but who knows?

Here's hoping for the best of futures for him.

bleedingorange, if it makes you feel any better I thought the same thing for a minute. It wasn't until I saw some posters in there who never posts anymore that I realized it was old.

NO! Because this thread predates the Other Schools forum. Please look at the dates on the first page or just scan up and read my previous post.

My view -- and I invite others to share theirs -- is that discussions about MAC teams and other football teams that appear on our schedule are fine here.

agreed.

and we have until 2010 to figure out how to keep the OSU sillyness dished out between one forum and the others...

This kid was a walk-on and never had a scholarship with Toledo so it is technically incorrect to say he lost his scholarship. I hope that he turns his life around and goes back to school, at least somewhere (even at a JC or something), when he gets out of jail though.

Agreed. Totally. As I said in my idiotic post, this is not an incident that I would wish upon any program or any person. This kid obviously made a mistake and he is going to pay for it through jail time. Hopefully when he is done with jail he can return to UT or another school and complete his education. I still think that there was more to this situation than just this kid, but so long as the organization learns from it, it is a good thing, I suppose.

There was more to it. Another kid, a redshirt freshman on scholarship, was arrested and he was removed from the team as well. He no longer has a scholarship. Outside of those two though, both city police and University officials could not find anything else on anyone else at the party........football players or non-football players. While there were more football players at the party, there is no evidence of any of the others being involved in the fight and no one has identified any other players as being involved in the fight.

Now the other players that were at the party, but did not get involved in the fight did see some minor discipline just for being there and putting themselves in jeopardy, but we are talking about running the stadium steps and missing a few practices......that sort of thing.
