Uh...do we though? BG is supposedly a great place for getting a education degree. Now I may be wrong , but I don't think teachers make alot of many to boot. So the simple fact is that the OSU's , the Michigans and Miami(FL)'s have lots of the rich alumni that makes getting this kind of money possible. Some schools produce alot of laywer's or computer scientists or other high paying job degrees. BGSU doesnt have alot of those I've been lead to believe , so we're really subpar in that department anyway. I'm not saying we dont' have some rich alums, but obviously the BCS schools have ten times the amount of them. Make sense? :-\Bleeding Orange wrote: There are a great deal of very, very successful Falcons out there, and though many of them may not frequent this message board it is still possible to reach them and ask for help with our group vision. Heck, the hockey team did it with the construction of new hockey offices and locker rooms.

When can I, as a CS grad, expect to be getting a high-paying job that would make me one of those rich alums? If it happens, I'll give back to the U, I PROMISE!falconboy wrote:Some schools produce alot of laywer's or computer scientists or other high paying job degrees. I don't think I would lump Computer Science in with Lawyers in terms of annual salary.
There are many more colleges within BGSU other than the College of Education. Arts and Sciences, Business, Musical Arts, etc. etc. I have a degree in Computer Sceience and I'm doing quite well, thank you. I'm not rich but I'm not exactly hurting and have made several donations to the university over the years. There are math majors, pre-med majors, business majors, music majors, accountants, etc. etc. You are really cutting this university short if you think that the only thing we produce is teachers (which is probably the most important profession for the future of this country, btw). I've known several graduates who have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, scientists, etc. (of course we've had our share of pro hockey, football, basketball, and baseball players which doesn't hurt). Trust me, we have successful graduates at every level and in every field. Sebo graduated from BG and he isn't the only one who's been more than successful since doing so.falconboy wrote:Uh...do we though? BG is supposedly a great place for getting a education degree. It kind of makes sense, but not for the reasons you cite. All of the schools you mention have education programs, just like BG. The differenece that I think you're trying to rationalize would be a result of the lack of professional graduate schools, outside of the more fundamental ones. The fact the BG doesn't have Colleges of Medicine, Law, Pharmacology, and Dentistry makes a big difference between us and the OSUs, Michigans, Miami(FL)s and UKsfalconboy wrote: Uh...do we though?
