Miami is renovating Yager Stadium....again!!!

Post by BGSU33 »

This place is going to be one of the real gems in the MAC. Miami is currently putting in a new grandstand (across from the main/original grandstand) and is also replacing their end zone seating (which wasn't that bad to begin with) with a new section of seats as well. Miami just recently put in an awesome videoboard/scoreboard (which is what BG "should" have done) that is one of the nicer ones I've seen. They also put in a new FieldTurf surface which looks great. I'm partial to grass, but at least they didn't go with the NexTurf junk like Toledo went with. It also appears from the artist renderings of Miami's stadium that they are putting in a grass embankment in the one end zone as well. They also did some external stadium renovations, including a nice enterance plaza, and once this is all done, it is going to be a great MAC stadium. Below is a link which shows some construction images and some renderings of the new stadium (if you scroll down on the page).

Man....seeing this makes me even more excited now for the SEBO! I'm about ready to drive up to Ohio and break ground on the project myself!

there are better pictures on www.miamihawktalk.com

go to the multimedia section and look for the facilities page... the last two pages are more recently updated then the official website, the pictures are larger as well.

Thanks for the link. Miami has always been my second favorite school in the MAC to BG. I really like what they are doing to the facilities there! With the football stadium renovations going on, coupled with the new baseball stadium (which is very nice) and the new ice arena (which is going to be fabulous), and a basketball arena that is nicer than a lot of MAC schools – Miami just might have the best facilities in the MAC.....IMO. The new rec center down there is awesome too.

Great pics! I am surprised that the University put the old redskin logo on the carpet as well. It's a nice salute to the history of Miami University. Those crazy RedSkinHawks!!

As much as we complain about the back of our scoreboard, notice that the new scoreboard at Miami is not covered either. Not to say that I think we should leave ours uncovered because I don't. I just wanted to mention that.

True, but right behind Miami's scoreboard is a large bricked entrance with wrought-iron fencing that feeds into a very nice plaza.

It's the Journey, on our field there is a RedHawk, and an old Miami Redskin, also on the old conference markers and bowl markers, they had to change the "'Hawks" to the Redskins, because the alumni went berserk. between the grassy area in the south Endzone, and the field is gonna be a 6ft. brick wall. They are also flipping the seating of the stadium, moving the MUMB to the top of the East Grandstand(newside) between the 40's and putting the students in front of them, and putting Miami's football team on the East side as well. This is because nearly ALL the MAC schools wrote letters of complaint about Miami's "Advantage" by having the students and band directly behind the opposing team. They are also planning a new full-size indoor football field/practice facility to be built adjacent to Yager, at the north endzone. See www.forloveandhonor.org for more details

And I bet Miami will have the sence to put in a full 100 yard indoor practice field, unlike Perry Field House. I will never understand why they only put 70 yards in that thing.

It is full length, and it would have stands in it, so they could play indoor soccer.

Before the Kool-Aid drools further from our mouths with the Miami propaganda, let's remember that the renovations made/to be made to the Doyt will equal if not surpass the fancy artistic drawings seen here. Hindsight is 20/20 regarding the practice facility but let's remember BG has had an effective, functioning one for years while it's still a distant fantasy in some quarters in the conference.

How many times a year is the indoor facility actually used? Rumor was, that recruits saw it on the tour... but barely twice in their five year careers.

Well, I know they would use it for the Marching Band, and for intermurals... hence why they are gonna install stands...
