Yes, Floyd has athletic shortcomings. However, he plays with guts and has shown the ability to make big plays. He has a decent basketball IQ, as well. I'll be glad to see him in our guard rotation, but certinaly not starting. He can give us ball control off of the bench for 10-15 minutes per game, depending on match-ups. We will probably see Moon establish himself ahead of Floyd as the season progresses. <sarcasm>Clements will show up, show tons of ability, but somehow not get adequate minutes, end up in the doghouse, and in April announce that he's transferring. ;) </sarcasm>

NY-BG-FAN wrote:The shots Floyd hit during the Toledo comeback more than makeup for his shortcomings. He was getting everything to drop in the second half, he provided a real spark in that game. I wish we wouldn't openly rip individual players on the board. Everyone here would agree BGSU wins or loses as a team, so I figure a fan site should keep it positive when it comes to the individuals on that team.
I don't think I've openly ripped Floyd, although I probably have others in the past, Netter for sure. I applaud Floyd's effort & heart, and that is all that he can really control. I just don't think he has the athleticism to be a good starter in the MAC. Not his fault, but its what I believe to be the truth.

As to openly rip players, I firmly believe that when you accept the scholarship you open yourself to public criticism. I've met many players that I've both loved & hated and most of them are quite strong in dealing with the criticism. Even Netter, the biggest hoops headcase we've had in recent memory, realized that he never reached his full potential. I won't speak ill of players as people unless I have reason to, but I think part of being a Division1 Athlete is accepting comments about your on court performance.

If they cannot take some loser nobody on the internet talking about them, how can they make that free throw to tie the game with no time on the clock?

As someone who has read every post in this forum, I can agree with you there. You do say he's not a DI starting PG and list reasons why everytime he is brought up, but you have never said anything about him the way you used to talk about Netter.

hello everyone - ive read these messge boards for over a year now and never really felt the urge to reply to anything just liked seeing what other fans had to say. but... i read this thread and just noticed that i really disagree alot with what people view for next years team. first of all Floyd should obviously start at PG for us next year- if you dont see that i really question who would do better in his minutes and why you think that based on past performances- you all seem to not look at the stat lines and only look at the highlight plays. He outplayed deandre haynes in the win AT kent last year and you all say that haynes is an all mac player. Also he was second in the mac in assists and 1st in mac games alone. with samarco and steve as 2 athletic guards i feel starting moon would not be benificial for the offense we need a controller-maybe the D but i never saw floyd get murdered on D only beat when he picked up full court which we dont do anyways. Also you pin such high hopes on these frosh i cant really see anyone being a williams from OU type at all, anything more then role play would be a shock to me. Sullivan is the only one who has a chance- the Euro kid will get a rude awaking to American ball hes tall and thin and if he fits the Euro stereotype cant D up. i think with a line up of a floyd samarco wright soler and then depending if DD wants to go big with lefeld or go small with sullivan would be our best bet. with moon coming in for floyd playing 12-15- i mean in the crunch you just gotta make shots (free throws) and he shot 27% last year my 6 year old nephew shoots better right now--- overall im looking forward to a real good year definitly a mac contender - just gotta teach these new guys BG basketball and how to play Defense the key to raod victories in the mac
(oh and before anyone asks I've been to every home game the last 3 years and probaly at least 3 games the 4 years before that so I have seen games)
