Well at least on Wisconsin's end that is. Everyone is going to have to get their tickets through BG's ticket office, like you should anyways or take your chances and scalp.

University of Wisconsin football fans did something unprecedented last year when they purchased every available ticket at Camp Randall Stadium in advance of the 2004 season. Now they're are at it again.

For the first time in school history, there will not be a public sale of single-game football tickets because Badgers season ticket-holders have bought them all. "We're bone dry," Steve Malchow, the associate athletic director for communications, said Monday. "Unless (opposing) teams return a lot of tickets from their traveling contingents, we're basically out of tickets for the coming season."

Few schools have such a luxury. "I would say it's unusual from the perspective of you usually have a couple games (where general public tickets are available)," said Corbin Hunt, the UW-Madison assistant athletic director for tickets. "That's been our case here. The first game of the year has not been as easy to sell because it's usually Labor Day weekend."

There were approximately 1,000 tickets available for the 2004 season opener against Central Florida. They were sold in two weeks.

No tickets are available for the six home games this season - including non-conference outings with Bowling Green Sept. 3 and Temple Sept. 10 - because season ticket- holders took advantage of an opportunity to buy additional single-game tickets. The option has been available since the introduction of the Badger Fund priority point system five years ago.

Hunt said Badger Fund points were used to determine who got access to the extra tickets. As few as five points were needed to get them to the season opener against Bowling Green while at least 5,205 points were necessary to obtain extra tickets to the Big Ten Conference season-finale with Iowa Nov. 12.

"A lot of those games we ended up turning away some of those donors," Hunt said. At the moment, 56,140 season tickets have been sold for the 2005 Badgers football season, up from the 55,220 sold last year. That includes all season ticket locations, including the suites and club seats. Students can purchase tickets through June 30, but Hunt said "we're well on our way to a sellout there." Capacity at the new Camp Randall - work is still being done on the east and west sides - will be slightly above 80,000, according to Hunt. Right now, every seat is spoken for. "This is what you strive for, to be honest with you," Hunt said. "The fact you can sell out your entire season in advance I think is what every athletic department would want. It's a great show of support from our fans."

On gameday. usually along Dayton and Monroe Streets to the East of Camp Randall.

This season I would expect the Michigan game, played at night, to be an expensive ticket, but you should be able to pick up decent tickets at or near face. (Note, season ticket holders must pay a seat licence fee in addition to the face value of the ticket, so they'll be trying to at least recoop their costs.)

I don't know all this from personal experience, but everytime the subject has come up on various Badger message boards, that's what I read.

Of course, if you want to be sure of sitting near other Falcon fans, by all means buy your tickets through your ticket office.

Well I mailed my check to the ticket office over a week ago so I better get my 2 tickets.

I ordered a Flex Pack and 8 tix to the Wisconsin game via the brochure two weeks ago. I checked and my credit card has not been charged yet. I will be royally pissed if I do not get the tickets I need. . . .

I know that when I ordered my Oklahoma tickets last year they waited until they received the tickets from Oklahoma before they charged my card and then mailed the tickets. It seemed pretty late.

I agree Kdog. In fact, I called and asked if I could actually pick the tickets up when they arrive from Wisconsin and they guy thought I was from Mars- not understanding I may not trust a. their speed in sending them out and b. the USPS
