Football To Hold Clinic For Women
Event to be held July 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Perry Stadium


June 21, 2005

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University football coach Gregg Brandon and his staff will hold a clinic for women at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 28 in Doyt Perry Stadium.

The free event will address basic concepts of football and will last until 9 p.m. Those interested in attending should RSVP Robyn Brandon at [email protected] or call Jean Panning at (419) 372-7083.

Those attending should dress comfortably.

I mean, are there that many women who grew up ignorant of football? I think that's very condescending & patronizing. Personally, I have grown up around football my whole life, and don't need the BG coaching staff to tell me what football's all about. I am just as big a football fan as my husband & he played it half his life. Stupid, very stupid!

Maybe they are looking to add some women to the roster? I have NO problem with the ladies kicking some *ss on the gridiron. Heck, prolly one of the most passionate football players I have seen was an MS girl who played WR. She didn't play much, but when she was out there, she owned the field! I mean, she had her OWN cheering section!

I am never wrong...there are times when I slightly less right, there are times when present day reality hasn't caught up to my unique take on the "truth", but I am never "wrong".

I think its a brilliant idea. From a department we all complain about doesn't do enough to market its athletic programs to the non-fans, having a "ladies night" is a great idea. Not only that, but they've done this (or similar things) for the last year or two, and the reports I've read on here from women that have attended is that they have a great time. It gives the women who are football fans a chance to get closer to a sport they love, and women who just want to learn more about the game (and specifically the program) the chance to do so. On a wider scale, it just might bring more kids to the game, if mom becomes a fan, too, it becomes a family event come game day.

Besides, I'd be willing to bet the majority of women haven't spent as much time *cough* "around football" *cough* as you have.
