TV Games

Toledo has 4 confimed games on national TV this fall. Ohio has 5, if you count the 4 that are on ESPNU as national TV. ESPNU isn't available in too many places yet, so I guess that could be debated. Bowling Green has 4, like Toledo. Miami has 4, with one of those being on ESPNU. NIU has 4 games if you count the one against Northwestern that is going to be a live broadcast on ESPN Classic.

I don't think ESPNU is that big a deal (yet).

Forget the name. I doubt it reaches nearly as many people as Fox Sports Ohio does.

Anyone who has the DirecTV sports pack gets ESPNU.

Other than DirecTV, however, ESPNU is pretty tough to find.

Time Warner needs to add Fox Detroit, ESPNU, and ESPN2HD.

I'm still pissed that they don't have Fox Sports Detroit. I can watch all the stupid Indians & Reds games I want, but not a single freakin' Tigers game. "So I'll buy the MLB Extra Innings", I say to myself. *BUZZ* WRONG. Still can't get the Detroit games, because you're in the Fox Sports Detroit market and the Tigers will be blacked out, says the sales rep.

So apparently Time Warner feels nobody around here wants to watch the Tigers, Redwings, or Pistons....GRRRR.

Hamm, I don't want to turn this thread into stuff on Time Warner, or even about anything but what the thread was started for, but I approached Time Warner back in March and asked them if they would add Fox Sports Detroit. BG did have Fox Sports Detroit many years ago when it was BG Cable but then they dropped it. Anyways, I told them I was going to switch to DirectTV Satelite. Even got as far as taking in my digital cable boxes. When they knew I was serious they gave me 6 months of free HD Cable to keep me as a customer. Maybe if you do the same you will at least get free cable out of it. Toledo market is lucky. On their Buckeye Cable they get 2 Fox Sports Ohio, and Fox Sports Detroit as well as BCSN (shows 70 Mud Hens games, and even shows the BG Hoops games.)

And on the digital package we get the NFL and NBA networks as well as three additional Fox Sports channels that are usually showing college games.

I'll have to see if they're picking up ESPNU...

I might have to do that, I talked with their marketing reps at the beginning of baseball season, and they were like, well we just don't carry it. GRRR. It really annoys this Tigers fan big time. I can't stand the Indians, and we're closer to Detroit than Cleveland anyways. I wish I could get Buckeye so bad.

As I said, I wouldn't even mind paying for the darn MLB Extra Innings, except I still can't get the Tigers games. Fox Detroit says that I'm in their market, so they black it out from the Extra Innings package. And since Illitch dumped 760 I cannot even listen on the radio, since I don't get 96.1 in too well. I pay the $15 for the audio feed on the internet, and I usually just listen on my laptop. But Tigers games are the one thing I miss from having DirecTV. I just can't go back to DirecTV, it would cost a lot more $$ for my same channels, and I hated how it would always screw up in a storm.

I am in BG and 96.1 comes in great for me. Also they are on 1270am, but for me that does not come in. I could not put up a satellite where I live, but I still went in there trying to make up for their stupidness, and it got me from HD Cable for 6 months. A great way to watch the NBA playoffs on HD. I would love to get Buckeye cable too. I guess I could always move 12 miles north back to P'Burg.

Buckeye Cable does not have any current plans to add ESPNU, in fact they could very well add CSTV before ESPNU because ABC/Disney is asking for double the price of what CSTV is asking for cable providers to pay them to air the channel. I am so sick of the ABC/Disney monopoly. I work for Buckeye and you would not believe how much money the demand for ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNews. They know that those three channels are pretty much a must for cable operators to compete with satellite so they charge them ridiculous prices for these channels.

The best way to encourage Buckeye to carry ESPNU in the future is to send them emails requesting the channel. If they get huge numbers of emails about it then they will be forced to add it somehow. [email protected] is the email address to send to. :D
