A total 50 players were placed on the watch list Monday by the Football Writers Association of America for the award, given to the best defensive player in college football.
MAC notables are Miami University linebacker Terna Nande and Central Michigan DE Dan Bazuin.
I was almost stunned to see a University of Kentucky player on the list in strong safety Muhammad Abdullah, but he was UK's MVP from last year if that counts for anything.
And for you lingering Ohio State fans out there, linebacker A.J. Hawks was also on the list.
