Ohio names new AD, the Sleeping Giant is about to awake

Post by BGSU33 »

A new head coach formerly from Nebraska, a new AD from Oklahoma and continued renovations to Peden Stadium. Can you say - pointed in the right direction? I've always said Ohio was a "sleeping giant" in the MAC for football. With all of the stars finally starting to line up, mark my words, watch out for Ohio in the near future. I'm not saying this year or even next, but soon.

They are Ohio... That is all.

Now that my seething hatred for Green and White is gone...

I must agree, their new AD is a HUGE steal from UO(Okielahoma.) I think they are turning themselves into a powerhouse, or trying to. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a 6-7 win season this year. If they do, they'll go bowling, whether the MAC likes it or not, it's the Frank factor. I hate it but it's true.

OH, and jsut for y'alls info... I am converting slowly to BG... Miami is and ALWAYS will be my number 1 team, but BG is a plucky team that I will be rooting for this year.

Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

I'm not entirely sold on Solich yet. They couldn't have made a bigger hire in terms of name recognition, but is his system viable in the MAC? I just don't see the development in the passing game necessary to generate the offensive firepower necessary to win.

I know they're supposed to be altering the system, but their staff doesn't appear to have a lot of diversity. The coordinators are former Nebraska GA's and the rest had Nebraska ties or were cobbled together from ex-Husker Tony Samuel's recently dismissed staff at New Mexico State.

The only significant area where the new AD will impact is fundraising as the major sport coaches (Solich and O'Shea) appear to be set in stone for a few years. Fundraising for Oklahoma when they're winning 10 games a year is easy...fundraising for Ohio is a different ballgame. We'll have to see.

even if you arent sold that these guys are legit, at least admit they are by far the best they could have brought in and SHOULD be a lot better than what they had before, i think they will be a force in a few years because its not that hard to get out of the bottom of the MAC IMO, but once they reach the level of Miami, BG, UT, NIU i think that they will level off simply b/c the competition is so much better.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

That's probably the appropriate cue to tip my hat to the good folks here who finally got me through the technical glitches that kept me from activating my account (which I've had since Day One). You are gentlemen and scholars.

Obviously, I've not felt the need to say anything over here before now, but it appears that some of y'all recognize me any way.

At least you're not grumpy yet...

Oh and....

OhioU here's to you! :finga:

I hate OhioU with the "White-hot intesity of 10,000 suns."

I also hate OhioU with a flying purple passion borne from the fiery pits of Hell itself. :axe:

Got Frank? ::puke::

Off of my hating OhioU Bobhuskers now...

(DG, you need to put up an appropriate picture of a Bobhusker, or a Cornkitten. )

If Ohio gets a good pass defense and an offense that can produce eating up the clock? Are you kidding me? A team like that could do very well in the MAC.

Which one did you want? Back at the MHT Skunkworks, we've got:

(1) Your basic corn-eating cat.

(2) Rare footage of Kit-Cat at work . . .

(3) . . . or after a night out on Court Street

(4) Your typical, overly hopeful OU fan *before* the game

(5) Your typical OU fan *after* the game

And finally
(6) The gnomes' spy pix of Brian Knorr's last recruiting class in Athens.

Devilgrad, I wish we could do a photo montage with a rocket like you guys put together.

Unfortunately for us the only two places rockets go are into space and in buttocks. :?

And as far as the OU/Miami(OH) rivalry goes, it would be much better if OU were competative. "It's the Journey..." said to me the other day that he thought this rivalry may be as vehement as BG's rivalry with the Turds is, but I still maintain that we are two competative programs. Your rivalry is one competative program and a bunch of people in green who are mostly high and dilusional. :P

I personally think this hire can do nothing but help the Ohio athletic department as a whole. I think that if he can help bring in what the other OU was making in donations before they started winning all those games a year, it would definitely help. I can only think that bringing in guys at these other schools in the MAC that are used to high profile working experiences at their previous jobs and making it more competive is only going to be good for the MAC. I would rather have to worry going into each year that their are only one or two games that we can chalk up as W's rather than saying we have only one or two games that we really have to win each year. It does no good for us or the MAC. If we want to get more bowl tie-ins, we need more of the schools to follow this lead. The MAC is a conference I really feel that is on the rise, and will only get better by making some tough decisions about who to bring in, and possible who to let go. They need to start making it tougher on some of these schools to keep their MAC eligibility. I think that BG and Krebs layed out a great blueprint on how to bring up programs that were once prominent and hire good coaches and make what to do to help win. These other AD's need to follow. And I'm not just talking about football. If BG can do it, so can all the rest of our conference.

I expect that BG and Miami should put up their normal 70-7 and 56-10 scores against OU... and watch them win all of the rest of their games with their new hybrid-option...

Basically its the same option... with a new name.

This will be the year that the option fools them guys!
