Fairly vanilla, but I can certainly understand UW coach Barry Alvarez's comments about how scary the Falcon offense is.

I guarantee Wisconsin will not be 5-6 this season (links)
If we play all 12 games on the schedule.

BGSU Offense:

BGSU - Defense:

Wisconsin will not be a great team this season. 5-7 to 8-4 are about the best that can be hoped for, depending on injuries.
This game is actually pretty critical for the Badgers in regards to bowl eligibility.

Bucky:
Good point on the math.
Just taking a quick glance at your schedule, it looks like you have four gimmes (IMO) - Temple, North Carolina, Indiana and Illinois.
Northwestern and Penn State are quite beatable, though you catch the Nittany Lions late in the season. What's the take of BadgerNation on the Hawaii game?
Looking over the slate I have to agree that a loss to BG could really end up haunting Wisky come bowl time.

UW's schedule
Actually, North Carolina, Penn State and Indiana are no gimmies.
UNC beat Miami last year and UW often does poorly in their first road game of the season. (Squeaked by Arizona 9-7 last year.)
Penn State signed a lot of very highly regarded recruits in February. As you point out they have us late so the youngsters could develop by then.
Indiana has won their last two games against Wisconsin. (2001/2) In 2001 they killed us something like 63-31.
Who knows how effective Ron Zook will be at Illinois.
We lost the last time we played at Northwestern.
Hawaii won a couple of games late last season due (I've read) to very biased officiating on their home field. One of those Warrior wins was against Michigan State who had killed us 56-14 two weeks earlier.
That's all the bad stuff. The good stuff is that we've got a pretty good young defensive coordinator who was great in his first UW year last season, and a new "co" offensive coordinator who may shake things up a bit on offense.
I, like most UW fans, expect a competitive game on September 3.

You just HAVE to love that description.New starting right guard Derrick Markray, a fourth-year junior, is a mammoth, 6-5, 341-pound road grader who played in 11 games last year.
Very well written with only a few minor glitches here and there. But Mssr Linder's analysis if very, very good.

"Still at this point in the summer it appears unlikely that UW will be able to light up the scoreboard enough to keep pace with Jacobs and Co. "
All complicated, intelligent, and insightful analysis aside, this pretty much sums up why I think we will win this game.
This opener has more importance to both teams than many I can remember in recent history. Wisconsin needs a win to get on towards bowl eligibility, and we are desperate to crash the BCS which means no losses are acceptable. I think both teams will play well and hard. No blowouts here.
